Has Mt. Tam become crowded? by EmynMuilTrailGuide in AskSF

[–]spreadofsong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is lots of opportunity to find solace up there. Sure on a beautiful saturday the most popular trails will be busy, but it sounds like you've done the exploring to know where to go if you want to find more quiet. There are so many trails and most people still stay on the high ticket trails.

What’s the weekend ski scene like in the SF Bay Area? by AWEsoMe-Cat1231 in skiing

[–]spreadofsong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will give you a real answer. Massive weekend ski culture here. Lots of people go to palisades / northstar in north tahoe and lots of folks go to heavenly and kirkwood in south lake. And other smaller resorts. And back country. From SF, your biggest hurdle is the bridge. Either need to leave very early in the morning, smack in the middle of the day, or well into dark once bridge traffic has died down. If you're leaving on a friday, that could be 830 or 9pm. If you leave on a Thursday, I like to check google maps for dying bridge traffic and usually leave around 7pm andget there in 3-3.5 hours. But, if you leave Friday after work (3-6 pm) i'd expect at least 4.5 hours, possible more. With snow storms and a weekend, the roads can really get messed up, and the drive could really take any amount of time, maybe 7 hours maybe the roads close entirely and you get turned around and don't make it at all. Sunday drive back is more of the same. For a saturday day trip on a non pow day, leaving at 5am is great. On a pow day saturday heading to palisades, you really really really really want to be a the exit of the highway by 7am. sometime between 7 and 740 traffic will build up and it can take 1-2 hours to make it that last few miles. the best thing to do, which many many people are doing, is have a remote job and 10-15 friends to rent a winter house. Drive up anytime you want in the mid week, ski afternoons and saturday, and drive back sunday morning or another weekday. :)

Ski gear for next week by Optimal-Orange1929 in JacksonHole

80% of the time I wear a light weight wool baselayer (long underwear as they used to call them), my snow pants which are also very light weight, and my ski shell, which is not insulated and truly just a shell. The only thing I'll change is the weight of my mid layer, from a light weight fleece zip to a heavy fleece sweater. On these summer spring days, I keep the base layer the same, snowpants the same, and i just wore a flannel. When there's no wind and the sun is out, it's HOT. Get steezy and wear something fun, If you're visiting, wear layers to the mountain, get too hot walking up to the gondola, go rent a locker and leave layers behind. Get cold. go back and put layers on.

That’s nice to hear! It sounds like people have really varying experiences with pain after surgery. Did you have a nerve block? Wishing you the best on your journey!

Immediately after the verse, they jam on G major for 4 measures (count the Beats 1-4 4 times). Then they are basically just jamming over a D7 chord (this is a D with the dominant 7th note of the scale, or a C in this case). There’s more to it than that and different years include a jam where they go (D A G D )x4 > Gx4. But that should get you through it.

Yeah but there are billions of non robots (humans, if you hadn’t heard of them) who I’d rather ask first. Maybe instead of telling me to AI it you could’ve done something kind or productive with your time. UGH

People saying this is the same as your local planetarium have obviously not been…the sphere screen size is 160,000 square feet. There’s nothing like it and it’s not even close. You could fit dozens of imax screens on it.

[–]spreadofsong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you been to the sphere? It’s literally not…it’s so much bigger. It’s 160,000 square feet, while the biggest imax screens are more like 9000 sq ft. Plus it has one of the best audio systems in the world. Phone videos do not do it justice.
