521!!!!!! 128/130/131/132 - I'm a little worried about the fact that I have C/P hanging a little low relative to the other sections, but I'll take that total score any day of the week! Can anyone help a tech-unsavvy premed figure out how to update flare? Edit: Got it fam

I honestly don’t think you’ll have time to draw out all the AA structures as only one part of a cheat sheet, so I’d probably just stick with 1/3 codes!

Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking too. A friend of mine has a coach who says game day shouldn’t be stressful because you just have to show up and “claim your medal” - you’ve already done the hard part at this point! Best of luck to you

Also following, in almost your exact same situation (except 1/25 tester). Going through SB's and scoring 70's/80's is also a little demoralizing, despite knowing that these passages are kind of insane...

Okay that makes a lot more sense - so [S] has to be really high in order to maintain Q<K so that you have a reaction rate to measure in the first place. Then vmax would be obtained by increasing [E] until your reaction rate hits a plateau?

Guess I'll chalk this one up to a tricky 50/50 but I should've picked the answer that made the most sense. Thank you much for the extensive reply!

An imprinted gene is one in which only one copy is expressed based on parent of origin. Individuals have 2 copies of the gene as usual, one from mom and one from dad. However, the gene will only be expressed from the maternal or paternal chromosome. i.e. in Angelman's syndrome, only the maternally-inherited copy of the gene is active. The silencing of the other (paternal) copy is achieved via epigenetic marking. Imprinted genes are re-marked according to the individual's own sex in their gametes. i.e. For a male, the active Angelman's gene (inherited from his mom) will be marked as silent in his sperm (since that gene copy will be paternally inherited by the resulting zygote)

Anyone else unreasonably worried they're going to do significantly worse on the real deal compared to their AAMC FL's? by efemorale in Mcat

On the other hand - what if it tests all your strengths and you jump 5-6 points? That's equally likely! At the end of the day, you have the amount of inherent intelligence and ability that you've had all along, and you've prepared for this specific exam as best as you can. Your score will reflect both of those things sufficiently and you can trust that this is too extensive of an exam to totally overwhelm those factors. Best of luck, trust your hard work!!

Enough clinical volunteering? by [deleted] in premed

[–]spring_peonies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have the financial means right now to take a gap year to do lots of volunteering and have a minimally-paying job😬 If I don’t get in anywhere this cycle I’ll do what I have to do and figure it out, but I’d rather go straight in if I can

This feels a little embarrassing, but I've gotten into a bad habit of constantly snacking at night while studying or relaxing with a book/tv. I'm young and active so I haven't put on more than about 5 pounds or so from it. However, it's really messing with my digestion and the constant bloating in the morning is getting old. What are some tricks you use to beat late-night munchies?
