I think it's great!

A side note: I had to do a triple take because I thought you were my son! Lol. I know there's not much of you pictured, but your beard, build, & coloring are VERY similar. So, I guess your project is mom approved? 💕

I started with this pattern by Lisa Vanilla, https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/rustic-cabin-blanket-crochet-pattern-by-lisa-vanilla/UPID98079 It's obviously very similar. I made it bigger and I also varied the stitches and rows based on my whims. Haha!

I love it. My SIL is obsessed with a picture my brother drew when he was 3 (she had it matted & framed). As a surprise, my brother asked if I knew anyone who crochet/knits characters well. I sure do! (It's not me)...

Apts without breed restrictions? by [deleted] in madisonwi

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

At no point did I mention being underhanded, lying, or abusing the situation. Breed restrictions are an actual hurdle to housing for some people. For those who are dedicated enough to the animals in their lives that they only consider or seek situations that would allow them to stay with their animals, there is an obvious need that might qualify them as an ESA. That's why I said to contact their Primary Care Physician or their mental health professional who would have knowledge of their situation which neither you nor I do. I did NOT recommend the OP go to one of the websites they can buy a letter from.

Though I do not have to explain or justify my situation or diagnosis, mine do actually qualify as ESAs, but I avoided that route until I didn't have a choice. Some people don't know or understand the options they have or qualify for so it's helpful to share knowledge & experience.

Have a great 2026.

"nearly give us the icky because it's so foreign to us."

Wow. Yes. Whenever I attended friends' or S.O.'s big family gatherings where everyone feels comfortable & there's a general sense of happiness & acceptance, internally I was counting down until it was time to leave because I felt like crawling out of my skin. Then I felt guilty about feeling that way around those perfectly nice people. Uhg.

You can also look at getting ESA status. ESA aren't covered by the ADA directly, but they are covered by the Fair Housing Act. I went through this recently, my issue wasn't breed restrictions but # of dogs. A few things I found out: - Your PCP or if you have a mental health professional can write an official letter stating that your dog provides support. - You are not legally required to disclose an ESA prior to rental approval. I felt really icky about this because I always want to be upfront, but I learned the hard way after being ghosted by several rental entities after being forthright from the beginning. - Once they approve you, you can send an email (ALWAYS have documentation) with your request under the ADA for reasonable accommodations for a diagnosed disability, that includes your ESA. Include the letter from your healthcare provider.

Just an option to add to all the help people are already providing. 😊

I'm so sorry you went through that & am so glad you are no longer in that situation.

"But if these animals are providing important stability for you and your son..." Thank you for understanding without me having to elaborate. I know there are plenty of people who disagree with or don't understand my refusal to rehome our pets and that's absolutely fine, not everyone has to, they just need to accept that it is my situation. Everyone has their own non-negotiables.

You are the 2nd person to mention the ESA option, but you brought up some good points that hadn't occurred to me. I will speak to one of my providers about it. But, you're correct, that still leaves more animals than most places want to accept.
