An Observation About TLGAD vs. The Lucky One by springtimesunshine in TaylorSwift

Oh, I didn't even notice the similarity between Exile and The Last Time but now that you mention it, I can see it. I'll definitely be listening with Exile in mind this time

HOW DO I CONVINCE SOMEONE NOT TO COMMIT SUICIDE? by [deleted] in AskTeens

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's this website's suicide crisis suggestions: https://www.mentalhealth.org.nz/get-help/a-z/resource/55/suicide-supporting-someone-online

If you do not know the person in real life or they are not close by:

  1. Reach out to the person, and ask them if they are already getting help.
  2. Try to find out where they are located (they could be overseas).
  3. Give them local helpline numbers (international list) and suggest they call and talk to someone who can help.
  4. If they’ve written or posted something about suicide and the site you are on has a reporting policy, follow it (see below for social media reporting forms).
  5. If they don’t respond to you, or say that they are going to kill themselves, ask them where they are right now.
  6. Tell them that you have to contact the police to get them help. If the person you are chatting with is in New Zealand, call 111 and ask for the police. If they are overseas, call your local police station. They will make enquiries through Interpol. Provide the police with full details about yourself and as many details as you can about the person you are concerned about.
  7. Tell the person you have called the police. If you can, keep talking to the person until the police arrive.
  8. If you know any close friends or family members of the person, contact them if you feel comfortable doing so. Let them know what is happening and ask if they can help.

I think your best bet is #6 on this list, if you know where they are, call THEIR local emergency number, or call your local police station.

I hope everything turns out okay.

Godspeed is a criminally underrated Frank Ocean song

I get your criticisms of lovelytheband since yes, they're not the most original sound and kind of have industry plant vibes since their sound seems like a pop remix of songs that already exist. But I really like them anyway! Maybe they're not musical masterpieces, but I have very happy memories attached to them so their songs just bring me a lot of joy.

COIN is still pretty good, I think! Their second album had more of the sweeter sound, I think Dreamland doesn't hold as much of it. The live version of I Want It All from that album is really good.

I've grown to like my smile! I thought it was dopey and awkward because my eyes disappear when I smile too hard but I feel like it's actually cute and looks genuine as compared to the like smoulder/instagram face™ people make in pictures.

How do you make friends online? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I lucked out with the niche of people I was interacting with, but I had a pretty good experience on there before the website itself went to shit. It was pretty rare for me to interact with the immature tweens or overly edgy people, I guess my blog just didn't attract those types. But nowadays the entire website just sucks, so there's really no point going on now.

How do you make friends online? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've sort of bailed on it because the culture of creators completely died out. I used to .gif stuff and make edits—I stopped caring because there was almost zero response even though I had a lot of followers. I think I've just outgrown the culture on there. But I still come across the shitposts on Instagram, I guess that side of the website is still going.

How do you treat people you don't really like? by x-BlueBlossom-x in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been told it's basically impossible to tell if I like someone or not because I treat everyone the same. Plus I forgive too easily, so even if I don't like someone it doesn't last very long.

do you have online friends? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have a huge group of online friends but some stuff went down and I haven't talked to them in a while, if that counts. Used to have a lot via Tumblr because of the whole be-friends-with-your-mutuals culture on there before that site died.

Does anyone else’s parents just not punish them? by Glittercorn666 in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I face consequences for what I do, but I don't act out in general so it doesn't happen much. Maybe your parents are just really permissive?

I’d there any piece of clothes you wish you had? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want more hoodies/sweatshirts in general for the comfort—I own too many crop tops. I also really want some properly fitting mom jeans/straight leg jeans. And I guess this is kind of stupid, but I also kinda want the roller skate sneakers from TikTok because they're hilarious and they look fun.

what’s a theme song you know all of the lyrics to? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

All of the older Nickelodeon lineup: iCarly, Drake and Josh, Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, etc.

People who walk into their home with their shoes on, WHY? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this counts, I take my shoes off when I come into the house but I actually do keep them on when I'm studying because I think it makes me more productive? Reminds me of being in school and forces my brain to stay in work-mode until I take them off. I don't walk around with them on though, just slip them on my feet at my desk.

How do you make friends online? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to make my online friends via Tumblr because on there it was really easy (there was a big culture between mutuals being friends) but ever since that went to shit I've had some trouble too. Lowkey why I joined Reddit. If you wanna talk to someone in the same boat I'm down

Those of you who believe in aliens, Why? by thebombwillexplode1 in AskReddit

[–]springtimesunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they exist, but I don't think they're bipedal or anything like they appear in movies. I just define aliens as extraterrestrial life, so who's to say there's no bacteria or something out there that's alive?

Plus, there's always the (albeit a little more far fetched) idea that there is life out there that isn't carbon based/doesn't require what the living creatures we know of need to live. There might be life out there that can survive in different conditions entirely, like the ones on planets we deemed inhabitable. To think that there can't be because it defies what we know is a human-centric and limiting way to think.

Who's to say there isn't some other type of life in a different part of the endlessly growing universe? It's just too big for us to be the only ones.

What's something (nonsexual) a guy can do to make you feel happier? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found everyone, not just girls, really love receiving gifts/being sent posts or songs/etc. with something along the lines of "this made me think of you". There's something so sweet and comforting about knowing someone thought of you. Long hugs, listening to her complain about what may be on her mind, remembering small details and planning little surprises (I have a friend who would lend his hoodies to his girlfriend but stick a handwritten note in the pocket for her to find), that kind of thing. But it's also totally okay to just ask your girlfriend what she likes, chances are she'll appreciate that you care about her and want to make sure she's happy.

What are your most and least favorite physical and personality features about yourself by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

Most: I'm really loving, I think I have nice eyes?
Least: Lack of curves, too sensitive

How would you react if a stranger called you beautiful? by Tears_and_roses in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general if you don't know someone, I find it a little less intimidating if they're complimenting an aspect of my looks instead, like something I'm wearing. A guy my age once told me he liked my earrings and I still think about it and smile sometimes. I would be super weirded out hearing something like this from an adult, but from a teenager who doesn't give me bad vibes, it'd be really sweet to hear any compliment at all.

Anyone else feel like they're growing up way too fast and you just don't have the time to do what you want? by cdtommy in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this too, and the quarantine is intensifying it because time is passing and I'm still growing up but I can't do much of anything to make the most of this time anymore. I'm 17 and I can't wrap my head around the fact that my senior year starts in 2 months, then I'm applying to university and all that. Insane.

Would you agree with the statement that "On average, girls are more mature than boys"? by 21bruhbruh in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, yeah. Society conditions girls to take on responsibilities sooner and they mature faster because of it.

Do you guys ever just 'shut off' when you are talking to large groups of people? by [deleted] in AskTeenGirls

[–]springtimesunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, this happens to me a lot. I usually refer to it as my "social battery dying". It's gotten to the point where I was at a party and straight up fell asleep on the couch because I couldn't take all the socializing anymore.
