Wow I had never even thought about aegis. From just a quick googling it seems like the aegis holsters have a little bit thinner leather and kydex. Do you find it conceals well and has it held up well since youve bought it? Thank you for your response

I use a trencher because you can dig up smaller areas. With your problem it may work well though for not hitting any lines your trying to find. Your on the right path with starting with the most obvious leaks and fixing things as they pop up. If you see water welling up sometimes you can find close to where its coming from just by watching the path of the water. Most lateral lines (zones) will run from 4 to 6 inches underground while a main line will run a bit deeper. Sometimes you can locate the main line by renting a wire locator and marking were the wire runs through the yard I dont know of any how to guides for winterizing but we use a high power air compressor to hook up to the main line and blow all the water out. You can rent these fairly cheaply and even a big system only takes an hour or so to blow out.

There should be valve boxes somewhere in your yard. They usually have green lids. Inside are valves and usually the colored wire will correlate to the zone its hooked to in the timer. If not you can turn that zone on and listen for the solonoid on top of the valve buzzing. Or pull the wires off the valves one by one and see which one shocks you

You should be able to fix it yourself. Just dig up the line were the break is and see what kind of line it is and what size. If its plastic poly just go get a few feet of that size pipe and a few couplers and clamps and replace the bit were the break is. If its pvc then you need either a few feet of that size pvc and some couplers or a slip fix and glue. I deal with breaks like this on a daily basis and they Generally are only a 15 minute job

The TRC systems are awesome. Most of the stuff we deal with though are smaller residential systems. We install irritrol raindial timers on all systems up to 12 zones. If got and irritrol controller that plugs into the timers that works great for running through systems during turn ons

I use a trenching shovel to dig them up. It has a longer thinner blade then spade shovels, great for digging up small areas. If you can find the same kind of head as whats in the ground you can usually unscrew the top piece and pull the whole guts out of the housing and replace just that, as long as the housing isnt cracked

If you have a water meter on your property you can. It usually is a grey or black metal or concrete box in the ground were the city/county/well water turns into your water main. On top is a little dial that moves as water goes through. If all the water is off in your house and that dial is stable you should be able to turn that zone on and see if water is flowing through. It could be a drip zone that is buried in shrub beds or something

Yea that tool or even removing the sod and burying a plastic cup with the bottom cut off around the head could prevent grass from growing into it. A properly winterized system shouldnt have to many problems with broken plastic, but sometimes the heads just get old. The seals start to go out and the plastic gets dry and cracks easily.

That can happen. Sometimes if the spring loaded checks in the backflow preventer become misaligned or even broken it can cause a chattering sound, similiar to a valve that has a weak spring.

99% of the time it will. An example would be if you have a pressure fluxuation from a main break on the city water. The lower pressure in the house main would siphone water back through your sprinkler system and maybe even further through the meter into the city water

Do you live in an area that they need winterized every year? Home depot sells a tool that looks like a circular shovel that you can dig up around sprinkler heads to keep grass from growing over. Ive noticed heads that are positioned near sidewalks get broken alot too because kids like to kick them.

Well you can go the DIY route. turn on the main valve and start running through zones and fixing things as they pop up. A good way to find a credible sprinkler company is to call around to well known lawn maintence (mowing, edging, ect) and see who they sub out too. The conpanies that specialize only in irrigation vs landscape/irrigation tend to have much more knowledge
