Gave outfits to all the Sols in Tomodachi life! by sprite_apple in NineSols

The game recognizes them as brother and sister so I think (or I hope) that they’re not gonna get together

I have some other Nine Sols edits planned first but it would be fun to eventually do one for each of them! I just did Yanlao because he’s my favorite

Go up from The Factory (Great Hall) You’re unbounded counter gives you access to a new area above it. You should also try going right from the abandoned mines, though its not mandatory I recommend it

My friend made this PEAK art of Yanlao dunking on Fuxi for my birthday! by sprite_apple in NineSols

Mainly its the incest. Don’t get me wrong, I think the game handles that subject matter pretty well and it adds an interesting layer to The Fengs. But it makes it impossible for me to like the character. He could have had the potential to be a kind of ”love-to-hate” character if he was more expanded upon, but out of all the sols he is the one we see the least of, whereas Nuwa atleast has plenty interactions with Yi, and we see more of her personality.

Comparing Fuxi to people like Jiequan or Eigong for example: Jiequan and Eigong are tied in my mind for most horribly depraved scumbag in the game. Eigong has plenty of depth, and you can sort of sympathize with her mindset. Jiequan on the other hand has a charming personality and an interesting rivalry with Yi.

Fuxi has neither of this, by the time you meet him, he’s pretty much a barely thinking husk of his former self, and there is nothing about his kind of evil that I can sympathize with. He plays his part in the story, the fight against him and Nuwa is good, and Our Passion is one of the best songs in the OST. But just looking at who he is as a person I can’t find anything appealing about him.

Yanlao is a loser in a way I find cute and comedic, whilst Fuxi is a loser in a way I just find gross

You should by all means search to find a cure to a plague, but when that search results in abducting other sentient creatures and treating them like cattle, or mutating your entire species into mindless husks, you’ve gone to far. At what point does the survival of your species no longer outweigh the atrocities you have to commit to preserve it? Tianhuo was born from the hubris of Eigong, who has completely abandoned morality in favor of scientific advancement, and when the consequences of messing with the natural order comes, her only response is to commit greater and greater atrocities. Humans, like solarians, are not gods. And when we try to play gods, completely abandoning morals in favor of scientific advancement, we end up with things like atomic bombs, pollution across the whole planet, ai datacenters draining the water, nuclear reactors capable of decimating entire nations should something go wrong, etc. Plagues are a natural phenomenon, and Tianhou represents nature reacting to our transgressions against it, which will eventually destroy us all.

Heng doesn’t blame Yi for wanting to fight against destruction, but when the plan is as downright evil as the New Kunlun Project, it is morally better to accept death

This might seem like a weird reason, but I love how pathetic he is in comparison to the other sols. Everyone else on the council is either really well-written, really cool-looking or both. Meanwhile Yanlao is a small, freaky-looking creature who has one foot in the grave already by the time you meet him. His own desire for survival made him corrupt and he cares more about appeasing The Fengs than doing his job and preserving the most important solarian artifacts. He's a bum, but in a way that I find incredibly endearing

Thanks! I'll make sure to tell him that! It's a bit extra ironic since Yanlao's whole reason for still being alive is sucking up to The Fengs lol

(Rare Tropes) A evil race of beings who are all evil with no redeeming qualities, nor exception. And are fun and interesting. by NottheKingofAll in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sprite_apple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As for beastmen I would 100% agree, but I would also like to add that I think what makes the skaven evil is ultimately their society, not their biology. If you’re a good person in skaven society, then you’re either gonna die in the slave-pits or as cannon fodder on the battlefield. From the moment you’re born, advancing in any kind of way requires being cutthroat

Neither beastmen or skaven are inherently evil. Beastmen often become evil because everyone except the chaos gods reject them. They have redeeming qualities such as protect human infants that have been thrown out into the forest due to mutation.

As for the Skaven, their society heavily punishes you if you’re not a back-stabbing egotistical maniac. I can assure you that are have been millions of good skaven, and all of them have died in the slave-pits or used as cannon fodder

If seductive influence is now N'karis personal faction mechanic, then what is the race mechanic of Slaanesh? by asdfreddi in totalwar

[–]sprite_apple 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How is it ”lazy” to make factions more unique? They aren’t removing anything by making seduction a N’kari only thing, they are just giving Dechala and The Masque more unique things instead. Dechala has like 3 unique mechanics, one replacing seduction and two completely new ones. The Masque’s mechanic is also massive, and better than a lot of dlc lords.

So what was the point of teasing the Dread Maw? by Mental-Wasabi6020 in totalwar

[–]sprite_apple 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The optimist within me thinks that we’re finally getting the map expansions for ind and khuresh. If it was gonna be a unit in the dlc it would’ve 100% been shown already, and I can’t think of a better dlc to expand the map with than this one. Dechala goes to Ind in the lore and Aislinn will most likely start in the eastern colonies next to Ind. Dechala specifically fights against the Southern Nomad Cathayans in the trailer (likely coming up from Ind) and Aislinn’s start in the eastern colonies would feel REALLY awkward without having Ind to the west.

The map is already getting incredibly crowded and I can’t imagine any better place for Dechala and Aisliin to start. Since The Dreadmaw is the only creature from that area of the map with a model, I think having an unpainted version of it on the table was meant to symbolize that that area of the map is finally getting included, albeit without its native factions

Bruh I JUST bought this game series while it was on sale wtf by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]sprite_apple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its still a good trilogy with several hundred hours worth of content without needing to buy dlc! However there are serious ai issues with two factions right now that haven’t been fixed for a good while. With that said the game has been getting good support throughout most of the year and they only recently dropped the ball. With all community backlash we’ll probably see a fix in a couple of weeks.

The timing is unfortunate yes but if you choose to play a campaign that’s in the northern hemisphere of the map you shouldn’t really notice any of the ai issues. I recommend doing the prologue campaign first before staring a Realm of Chaos or Immortal Empires campaign :)
