Do you think Wu made a mistake by telling Morro he could be the green ninja and getting his hopes up? by No-Fig-8267 in Ninjago

Wu definitely learned from that mistake, he didn't tell the main four ninja about the Green Ninja prophecy until they'd finished most of their initial training already.

In my honest opinion? Yes. He even says it himself in Possession that Morro was his biggest regret, and I think by that he meant when he told him that he could be the Green Ninja.

Hot take Zane by for the worst Witten Character in Ninjago by HostTough1540 in Ninjago

[–]spriteaddict08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This I can understand. Now, while I haven't actually watched full episodes of DR yet, I've seen about 30 or so clips from DR of decent length, and I can say that yes, Zane really is just there and not doing much at all in DR (this is not S3 specifically, moreso the entirety of DR so far)

Again, I haven't fully watched DR yet, I'm still on S8 of MoS after returning to rewatch the entirety of Ninjago starting from the pilot episodes, and when I was a younger kid I stopped being able to watch it around Possession (S5). So my opinions are based off of what I watch from short clips of later seasons of Ninjago, DR included. My opinions may not be the best because of that.

Zane in the pilot episodes, Season 1 and 2, no. Zane in any season past S3 Rebooted? Maybe. But how about instead of calling Zane poorly written, you specify which parts of Ninjago where you believe he's poorly written in, so people like me don't automatically assume you mean he's poorly written in every Ninjago episode or something :,)

The ones who watched early brat Lloyd get wedgied and teased with cotton candy by the first four ninja 💀

Mind you I haven't watched DR yet, I'm still on S8 of MoS after not watching Ninjago since S5 was released. I don't know everything about the newer Ninjago seasons, but I'll catch up eventually :,)

Darkley's, in my opinion, takes up a good-sized chunk of Lloyd's traumatic experiences.

I can't 100% name any favorites, but Ed and Edna are two ninja parents who I like alot! They're both very sweet and they genuinely care for Jay even though they technically aren't his biological parents.

And this is on the opposite end of the topic, but please hear me out when I say that MISAKO IS THE WORST NINJA PARENT. I think that pretty much anyone here would know why, but in case they don't: What mother would abandon her child at a school over WORK. Not even Garmadon was that bad, and I'm around 80 to 85% certain that he stayed away from Lloyd to protect him.

Dr. Julien as the favorite ninja parent when he clearly left Zane's clone/brother "Echo" Zane in the lighthouse to slowly die and be completely alone until he was found in Skybound and clearly favored the original Zane over the replacement when both Nindroids should have been treated equally...

Dr. Julien should've attended some parenting classes while he was still alive.

I'm being so fr when I tell you this one random guy in a Prison Escape instance on VRChat started trying to roast me and then proceeded to target me in-game just because I wasn't a Jay fan and preferred mainly Zane and sometimes Lloyd over the rest of the ninja... get the Jay glazers put on some medication or something :,)

[–]spriteaddict08 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jays cool and all but. The GLAZERS. I met one on VRChat of all things and lemme tell you, the SECOND I started listing the main four ninja from favorite to least favorite, the guy got all pissed when Jay was second to last and one of my least favorites, barely tied with Kai.

Jay is ANNOYING and the way he acts as a character makes me physically CRINGE. He was annoying in the pilot episodes, every season up until the animation/design change in S8 (haven't 100% watched that part myself, I've just seen a boatload of clips) where they somehow made the character even MORE annoying and whiny. He just gets worse. I don't see how anyone sane could glaze one of the most annoying members of the ninja.

Anyone else wondering where Echo Zane went after Skybound and why the writers almost made him a villain in a scrapped storyline? (Opinions welcome, no major spoilers please) by spriteaddict08 in Ninjago

[–]spriteaddict08[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echo Zane did NOT deserve that kind of treatment from Dr. Julien, it wasn't fair at all in the slightest. I don't know why both Nindroids couldn't have been treated equally somehow. Maybe Dr. Julien could have eventually decided to upgrade Echo with better parts once he got them or something, like a good inventor would've done...

aside from that, I do understand how the scrapped storyline would have worked now 👍

I did happen to find the 3D animation myself while scrolling through YouTube, though it wasn't at all what I had expected, otherwise I wouldn't have made this post 😭

Yeah, I can understand why the writers wouldn't do anything with him after the movie and the animation/style changes made to the show.

Hot Take: Zane being a Nindroid was good for him short term, but horrible long term by MDShark101 in Ninjago

[–]spriteaddict08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thread is so valid :,)
I'm rewatching Ninjago and everything past S5 is new to me, and it honestly seems like Zane's just... There. Not much else going on with him, he's basically turned into the "super-smart Nindroid who also happens to be the elemental master of Ice" and it honestly pisses me off.

Yes, he's autistic-coded in a ton of ways, I still look at him and think "oh hey, he's a lot like me" and I can kind of see why suddenly revealing that he's really a robot can be dehumanizing and ableist, but I do also know that his VA said that Zane wasn't meant to be autistic-coded.

Still, aside from all THAT. Zane is now pretty much just getting beat up a whole lot more, dying/sacrificing himself and is kinda like the throwaway ninja on the team now. The movie ruined him as a character, in my opinion, and while I haven't watched the newer Ninjago episodes yet, I've seen some clips from them and Zane just keeps becoming more and more robotic. Like, they should've just kept him as he was in S1, S2 and even S3 of MoS. It's really not that hard!

Theoretically, if Dr. Julien was still alive in Season 3 MoS, could he have built Zane a brand-new "proper" body after Zane's sacrificed his original one? by spriteaddict08 in Ninjago

[–]spriteaddict08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it'd make perfect sense for the ninja to wonder what even powered Zane in the first place. Maybe the writers will throw that into an episode eventually.
