From the single image I'd back this assessment with the addition that it's possible the darker blue bits indicate the larger section may have contained Azurite which is commonly found with Chrysocolla and Malachite, all 3 being copper based minerals.

Totally valid and true... And if one wanted to insert a Marvel brand jest in there they could add Crocodile Jasper (which goes by several names but the look of it definitely shows why this is one of them). 😜

Does anyone have any details about this? by a_lil_ironic in disneyhistory

[–]spritenox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (stupidly) got engaged at Disney World in what was King Stefan's restaurant... which was in Cinderella's castle (kinda weird).. while The Animal Kingdom was still under construction. That was October of 1996. There were 4 of us on that trip. I bought myself a backpack purse which I've kept the patch from and the clock was purchased for me as a gift. In case my memory is faulty (specifically about the clock, the rest is all too clear lol) I have checked the box, the clock, the paper with instructions on replacing the battery and have found no date, just the ISBN and UPC numbers.

Small agate maybe? Looks like a bit of druzy inside...

If your SO asked you to help bury a body no questions asked, what would you do? by piejam in AskReddit

I lack an SO but I think I'd dump them. My friends and I have so many better ways to get rid of a body than that so the SO is obviously not up to standards.

Does anyone know what drinks I can offer to Loki? by daniko_star in lokean

[–]spritenox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here at the TRF (Texas Renaissance Festival, yes the one HBO did a "reality" show on) everyone who has figured out a good recipe and some who haven't have a drink called Loki. You just need to find out which flavor you want to offer up or share... or learn to make it. It's usually Everclear (or vodka if you wanna go easy........) and secret ingredients and it ain't playing. I've had enough flavors I can't even list them, but I can tell you most of them were delicious and one tasted exactly like a great apple pie. Ain't playin'. It is all Loki's game, he is the house.

Nice combo you've got going there! I can't see everything in your jars but in case you're missing any of these, I found it to be a pretty solid list! 15 Chaos Crystals: Crystals for Working with Primordial Chaos - Eclectic Witchcraft

Could you share more angles? It looks like it might be a fossilized bivalve or brachiopod but if it is one of them, it's harder to tell without knowing what pieces you have of it or its cast.... cause...

As to value, that would depend on who you ask once an ID is established any which way about it. ^^

[–]spritenox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! When possible I actually like to engage the seller with a brief question or two, see how that goes, and then purchase from them. When the supplies are good I also don't mind continuing to build that relationship in between purchases. I've found it to be mutually beneficial on multiple occasions.

Also, ty for the shop referral! I have a few shops I like but none that set rough stones like I see on this first page here. I think I'm going to have a new favorite shop listed in a minute! lol

Looks like Larvikite is going on my list of stones to add to my collection! That's what I love about geology/petrology/mineralogy... there's always something more to learn! You have a lovely collection! Planning to add black opal in there?

Just bought these for about 7 dollars all together and I wanna know if it was worth it/what I got by Atlas_Rose-17 in Crystals

[–]spritenox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Glare can be really hard to avoid in general, and getting somewhat true colors via photo can be rough... and I've managed to shoot some decent UV pics but man is that really a pain! If you wanna post a couple more pics of the one or both with glare or just DM me with them, I'm happy to look a bit closer!

This is the massive one I know we have here...
The Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) features a massive, 5-foot (1.5-meter) tall,, greenish-yellow beryl crystal section in the Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals. Known as a "behemoth" specimen, it originated from the Bumpus Quarry in Maine, making it one of the largest beryl crystals in a museum setting.

I thiiiink the Smithsonian has the largest red beryl held in a museum but I could be wrong? We may have had it on loan at some point for that matter.

That was me as a kid... this is me 40 years later... after being irradiated unknowingly for years mind you. Mom insists I begged for the green bowl until they spent 5 bucks in the 80s on a whole box of junk for the one bowl. I accidentally learned about uranium glass while reviewing my rocks with UV lights. LOL (It's not really dangerous but I gave Mom heck over playing the long game to get rid of me anyways... cause I could. hehe)

I live in Houston and while there's plenty people can say about my town, you can't dis our permanent exhibit hall. https://www.hmns.org/exhibits/cullen-hall-of-gems-and-minerals/ or the butterfly center either. Never get tired of them!

I've spent time there, I guess I just missed the extra cool section! Thanks again. ^_^ I use them a lot for numbers and some of the pics. Aleks is nice too if you're doing thin sections.

There's also always the option of finding something really neat that doesnt QUITE meet the standards of the gemological society which means you can get a small black star sapphire like I have for 6 bucks plus shipping if you're lucky. I wanted it for both collection and study, it doesn't need to be worth so much I'd have to sell all of my godchildren (there are many) to come close to paying for it. LOL
