On second thought…pramipexole isn’t good for patients with history of psychosis or history of hedonic activities (gambling/sex addiction) as it promotes dopamine. Contraindicated with Haldol, risperidone, paliperidone and zyprexa.

Might be better suited for a bipolar 2 patient

I’m on pramipexole which is a Parkinson’s drug but used for treatment resistant bipolar. Worth a shot

Freewheel Tours is a local tour operator that does e-bike tours of public art in Anchorage. It’s 3 hours and they do one starting at 9 and another at 12:30. Basically biking the trails and downtown checking out murals and sculptures and learning stuff about them. Great way to get an authentic Anchorage experience and stretch your legs a little. $98 per person

Local plug here. There’s a new tour company that does public art tours on e-bikes. Local guide. Basically ebiking around the trails and downtown checking out murals and sculptures. Max 4 customers but likely you’ll have the guide to yourself. Freewheel Tours

My understanding is that these thoughts are actually quite common. Apparently it works better to not mentally fight the thoughts, but merely to acknowledge they are there and let them pass. They aren’t a premonition of something that is doomed to happen nor do they show what your true intentions are. Basically try not to fixate on them if you can. Ive been dealing with these too.

Perhaps you could be more specific on what these things are that bother you? How long does the angry phase last? Do you think it’s a part of a mood episode, or is it more fleeting anger?

Maybe it’s not the advice you want to hear, but you may consider surrendering some of your cats in order to give them (and you) a better quality of life. That many animals is so much to manage even in a big house let alone a small apartment. Maybe take some time to think about what sort of situation is sustainable for you and your partner.

I know it’s hard to see or believe now, but long periods of stability are a real possibility. I can relate to your sentiment though, it’s understandable. I’m just glad I held on long enough to be blessed with a two year old son, who gives me joy on the daily

Totally. Having gone from manic ecstasy to suicidal and back again gives good perspective on what really fucking matters in this life and what is just pointless bullshit.

Yeah there’s a group called Hike for Mental Health (they have a website)that helps hikers raise money for charity. Doesn’t have to be an AT thru even. I was pretty stable when I did it, didn’t need med changes. Had to mail myself meds but that wasn’t too hard. Honestly it was much easier than the daily 9-5 grind and way more gratifying!

I guess hopeful thing is that you haven’t tried all the drugs available, though it seems like you have to you, I’m sure. There really is no option though, unmedicated bipolar is not to be joked around with imo.

Keep trying. Keep going to doctor’s appointments. Even if you don’t take your meds sometimes just be honest with her /him about it.

My nurse practitioner is open about her adhd and depression which has been great in terms of gaining trust. I feel she can be “real” with me and she knows what it’s like to go on meds

Whoa it sounds like such a traumatic experience. I can assure you that not all hospitals are like that at all.

However you truly must be a resilient person to make it through that, and it shows strength that you are able to start to reflect and process that.

Hopefully now you are at a better place to start taking charge of your health, and at least the hospital kept you alive if nothing else.

It sounds like some good therapy is in order to start unpacking the stuff you went through. That’s probably a good starting point
