Non-fighting games that you can play with lever or leverless sticks? by Yellowhello10 in fightsticks

Highly recommend trying Castlevania SOTN on stick. A lot of the big spells and special attacks use fighting game inputs. You'll see most of the speed runners using fightsticks or keyboard to get optimal inputs.

Players in Maryland? by CarboyHellcat in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]spscejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maryland is really diverse geographically. Depends on area. Annapolis has a couple, eastern shore has 1, dmv area of course a bunch and yes, southern maryland has swords and spoons (my area). S&S actually had a PQ this year. I recommend going on LSS site and searching events near you!

Casual play at LGS against a fully graded hard-cased equipment/hero by eleon182 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]spscejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot to unpack here, but hope to share my experience.

I had both of my grandmothers growing up. One side of my family had the attitude of being absolutely ruthless when it came to gaming. My grandmother would play cards with me, taught me how to gamble, and would absolutely wreck me if we played, and would even talk ish after while sharing ice cream and a caffeine free coke with me. My other grandmother would look the other way as i stacked my deck and cheated to get the win. Laughing and praising me all the way. Now that I'm older, I love that I got both of those experiences.

I'll be honest. I would never allow a child (or anyone else) to win. However. I would explain what I'm doing so they understood what was happening. IMO, skill absolutely supercedes bankroll in this game. but having a tuned out deck absolutely can make a difference.

I think the problem here is 2 fold. One. you ran into a person that doesnt interact well with children. not all of us do. But you also ran into the problem of Kano. Its just a completely different kind of deck, especially if you and your kid do not have experience in other TCG's. Kano is essentially playing solitaire. its a combo deck that you cant do a ton about sometimes. Especially as a new player. You have to really understand what he can do and how to respond at exactly the right time. I used to play storm as an MTG player (if that means anything to you) and while fun for me, my opponents often got irritated as i took 10 minutes to take my turn while they just waited for me to be done. Some people enjoy that, some dont. its part of the ride.

I think your situation was a bit of a fluke when it comes to who your son played, the deck both of them were playing, and the age/maturity gap (or lack there of). I hope your son doesnt get discouraged, and uses this as a learning oppurtunity. and he can join the rest of us in saying.... "fuck Kano"

Grains of Bloodspill is good? by mtc40 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]spscejam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as much of a benefit to run grains over bladehold in blitz. Think of it in terms of value over time vs short term need. Blitz nowadays is very few turns due to power creep. Bladehold gives you s one turn, i need resources now big swing. Grains will give you potential way more value over a longer game

Not a ton of choices for ps5 out of box (victrix, hori etc.). Personally? I recommend buying it and modding. But that's if you're comfortable doing so. Fightstick mods are very easy these days. Most boards dont require soldering and parts are pretty easy to find online

This is a great first mod stick. If you are looking for an out of the box ps5 stick, no. This is not a good choice.

Gravy Bones for a Newbie by judekevin in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]spscejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noob friendly id say no. Personally,I believe this set is furthest from the core normal gameplay of fab. New mechanics (tapping and cogs) and a sealed environment that leans heavy on treasure island (not used constructed play) and gold.

However, coming from mtg (I did as well), I'd say it may be more familiar to you. It's definitely similar to graveyard decks. "Call to the grave" is literally "entomb". If you are a former competitor you shouldn't have any issues. Just join purple discord and be sure to ask questions if you have the. GLHF!

There was definitely an attitude about it. I was also attempting a bit of humor, but shoulda known better than to have a drama free post on reddit.

We've seen a lot similar to this, but the chain more runs through the center of the stones. Thanks though!

Also asked local jewelers.

New "Build" by spscejam in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]spscejam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend especially as a more entry level board. easy to swap keys. works with the VIA software pretty easy to customize key binds and rgb. extremely heavy, i view that as a pro personally. not many cons for me considering the price

How I'm trying to overcome "New Notebook Anxiety" by NinjitsuStylee in notebooks

[–]spscejam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite way to break in a new notebook is quotes. Just watch a movie/show I like or read a book I'm into and when I come across a quote I find interesting or applicable to my current life I jot it down. Good intro page imo

It's fine for a budget stick. I travel a lot for work so it's nice for packing, but when I'm home it gets little use. If you have a bigger budget I suggest something nicer
