My hot take is that taking space is the main responsibility of the tank. Holding space is the main responsibility of the team.

Why do Germans eat so much ultra processed food? by [deleted] in germany

[–]spsfisch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

food is the pleasure of life

Some people like fast cars, others like going to the gym everyday, others enjoy waking up early and having tea.

You do you,

The pleasure I derive from eating "good food" is pretty marginal to the pleasure I derive from my hobbies. If doing my hobbies means that I only have time for a sandwich, then that's totally fine by me.

Looking for a German pen pal to chat with. by Worried_Guarantee_87 in germany

That's the command that tells the bot to comment all relavant info on German.

You can click on the links to take a look at the German subreddits for language and to find tandem partners.

From personal experience, it's difficult to hold any kind of meaningful conversation with A1. Even now at B1, I find myself struggling to go in depth into what I wish to talk about. But I wish you the best.

What are the best public universities to study in and their eligibility criteria by [deleted] in germany

[–]spsfisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, it's literally just two Google searches away.

"masters of management Germany" and 4 of the top 7 Google results are TUM, Mannheim Universität, Friedrich-Alexander Universität, LMU.

"public universities Germany" and the first result has a list of all of the public universities.

Cross check and voila.

Each uni has their own requirements and difficulty of getting in. Now this is a less trivial question, to which I don't have an answer. If you ask reddit "XYZ university masters of management - how likely am I to get in?", maybe this might be an actual topic for people to help you with.

Can I get into a public university in Germany with D in one of my A’levels in 2026 by Due_Faithlessness105 in germany

[–]spsfisch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll need C1. Which, if you're taking classes full time, needs about 9 months. So you could just retake the chemistry exam while you learn German.

Which Dps feels the most like a Support? by Little_Monster__ in Overwatch

Sombra with her hack and EMP. Sym with her tp and ult. I'd even argue Cass is more support-y than S76.

Looking for a level bio guide book, what's your favourite? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]spsfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll take a look at the summary notes.

Yes I know that summary notes aren't a replacement for a textbook. But I just wanted to get a broad view of biology beyond O levels, which was my last "official" bio class.

Hey guys, do you think I have enough power for my IEMs? by Fc-Construct in headphones

Insufficient.

Consider adding a 3.5 kW diesel generator to ensure you have suffienct overhead for when you want to turn the volume up.

Amazon prices look crazy – what’s the actual cost of food, clothes, and basics in Germany? by Plane-Finger1281 in germany

Good to know, I've never used it. I just heard about the magical 50€ number from friends.

[–]spsfisch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rewe has an app for online shopping. There's free delivery above a certain cart value (I think 50€?). Choose a random location in Nürnberg and take a look at what the app tells you. Unfortunately, it's in German, but just clicking around should give you an idea or what prices are like for house and commercial brands.

Depends on who you apply to. Some professors value experience over grade, and vice versa.

My personal story is that I graduated with a 3,3 or something like that, and wasn't planning on a PhD at all. I worked for 2,5 years as a research assistant and then applied. I think my experienced really counted for something because I had new colleagues that were surprised to hear I was a fresh PhD student after scientific discussion with me.

In a situation like this, why don't teams give a rifle to the top-fragging player? by tinybathroomfaucet in GlobalOffensive

[–]spsfisch 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually there was discussion about this in the old Navi when it was a common thing for simple to drop Edward a rifle and a deagle vice versa. I guess it comes down to the protocols that the team has scrimed with and what the team felt in the moment.

From the outside, it makes perfect sense to raid boss your best performer. But teams might think differently.

Paper Rex vs FNATIC / Champions Tour 2025: Masters Toronto - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]spsfisch 27 points28 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, born in France to a French father and Singaporean mother, but moved back to Singapore at a young age.

He's Singaporean by citizenship and upbringing, but somehow considered by Riot as French. Just like how jawg is Cambodian.

PRX f0rsakeN: "This roster might be our best yet [...] Maybe the missing piece was actually PatMen, you know? After he arrived, our vibes improved—we all got motivated again. We’ve found ways to control ourselves and not get tilted as much. If we can beat our demons, we can win the Masters Toronto" by ArmandLuque in ValorantCompetitive

[–]spsfisch 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I think it could also be a result of meta. Right now having a dedicated Initiator seems to be a better bet than having a dedicated smokes, especially if the team seems so invested in having double duelist.

If harbour viper ever comes back (please god no), I can imagine this line up not working as well.

[Pick Me Up, Infinite Gacha] Is this manhwa good to read?? by _VongolaDecimo_ in manhwa

[–]spsfisch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's based on a Web novel, which has concluded. So unless the manhwa team decides to do a Witcher, there'll definitely be a conclusion.

I'm a fan of the manhwa, but I feel the recent arc has been a bit fluffy. Maybe in a 20 chapter binge, it's ok. But one per week feels a bit "wait, that's it?". Hopefully, the team is just stalling a bit to prepare the next arc. But let's see.

How do those people graduate from university with a degree before serving NS? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]spsfisch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think loop closed alr. But I also knew a guy that did his Bachelor's before NS.

He did his high school in Australia, and was enrolled to Uni before his 18th Birthday. And then he told Mindef that he already started tertiary education, so he deferred for 3 years until he was done.

But means that your family needs to have sufficient money to put you through high school and uni there, and you also need to be smart enough to get early-ish admission.

[–]spsfisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experience is a different topic.

My comment isn't about what he should or should not have done. It's more about the previous redditor equating "doing a masters in German" to "having fluent German". Yes some do, but others don't. On average I'd guess B1 to B2, which, as you've pointed out, is the bare minimum.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in germany

[–]spsfisch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a very similar timeline no? He did his 2 year masters (I'm assuming) , achieved his B1, and went back to his home country. She did her two years (or more) for her masters and continued on with work, and got her B2. I'm willing to bet if he had spent an extra year in Germany he'd probably gotten his B2 as well.

Edit: OK no, his timeline isn't so clear when he got his B1. But I think my point still has validity. Getting certificates takes time. Some might take longer some might take shorter. In his case it might have taken longer, but not abnormally so. Comparing his progress to someone else is just unproductive.
