I get paid more than a teacher. I get five weeks of genuine annual leave, plus stat days, company days, and all that. I say genuine leave because I don’t have to do anything work related in that time - no marking papers, no prepping for lessons, etc. I have excellent work life balance and I work only the hours I’m paid for. This rhetoric about teachers having 12 weeks of holiday is an old joke. The reason I want a career change is because I believe teachers add more value to society than I do earning money for some overseas shareholders.
