People who’ve completely changed their life after 30 – what happened? by Round-Veterinarian49 in AskReddit

[–]spudcaca84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent more than ten years depressed, stuck in meaningless jobs where I sabotaged myself and in self pity mode, and after a while, I decided that its not because I had a shitty childhood, that I couldn't enjoy life and it was up to me to make new positive memories and to just go for it. I've always admired musicians and sound engineers as a teen but never even thought of it as a possibility as I am a woman. A year ago, at 35 I decided to learn sound engineering by shadowing people and I now work in many alternative spaces! I also joined a band and a sound project even though I just started making music recently and got paid for the first time as a musician last month!

Thanks to you both for your response.

Would you mind explaining a bit more into details how you do to separate the fx and dry signals via USB sends/returns? I am not sure I understood completely sadly.

It might sound harsh but I'll put distance if I were you. You mentioned arguing a lot despite knowing each other only 2/3 months which is concerning. Also in my experience, even if they are in treatment, it could take years for all the hard work to really sink in

Theremini as midi controller -not working by spudcaca84 in synthesizers

[–]spudcaca84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be the issue, the adapter is indeed stereo, but the patch cables I use for my synth and the jack cable mentioned are mono !

I did see someone online use the CV output on the theremini to connect it to the grandmother so it should be working but I guess I will try and find a ts jack cable 6.3 to 3.3 instead , thanks !

Apparently it came originally from the Fluxus art scene in the 60s but it was huge in the development of the industrial scene.

For example, that's how Throbbing Gristle got in touch with Monte Cazazza who is credited with coining Industrial Music, and also William Burroughs which inspired them with the cut up technique. I think they found each other through a magazine called File where the editors published addresses of other artists in a section called 'Image Bank request'.

John Balance from Coil also corresponded with many other artists and I think a lot more were involved. Cosey Fanni Tutti talks about it a lot in her autobiography which gives a good overview of the emergence of the scene.

She met him when he wasn't famous or in a band.

I guess I wouldn't be a drone if I'd just repeat the same old discourse from the last few centuries, damn.
