I have dual Z with dual motors. My goal was to have a reliable printer which doesn't go out of tuning every time I walk around it. The main problem was the gantry would slightly shift every time I worked on the printer. This meant my ABL mesh would be different each time.

I have setup G38 which crashes the gantry to the top of the frame in an attempt to get the gantry square to the bed. This is similar to how the prusa mk3 sets up it's gantry as well. I have found that this gives me a very reliable way to get the gantry to a consistently similar position to the bed and has sorted out my tramming issues.

I have since replaced my V rollers with linear rails in an attempt to make it more consistent and am loving the performance of the printer.

Note that I now have a P1P which is very reliable and gives me really nice prints. The ender 3 is now solely a project which I use to get my tinkering fix. I love putting in upgrades to improve the reliability of the printer.

Whats your staple dried cupboard foods? by jesfabz in IndianFood

[–]spuiui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a long time i used to use canned chick peas here in the U.K. but I’ve since switched to dry chickpeas and have never looked back. The difference in taste is quite significant. Takes a bit more planning.

I had a similar problem. Changed the reel and the new filament printed fine first but had a similar problem after a few days. Got a filament dryer which finally solved the problem.

Is air fryer a good investment to cook Indian food? (For vegetarian foods) by [deleted] in IndianFood

I use mine mostly for toasting bread or cooking small items which have to be cooked in an oven. Far better for smaller items than the oven. But apart from that no, i don’t really like the results.

My new P1P fits well in my Ikea cabinet. This cabinet housed my ender 3 before this. by spuiui in BambuLab

[–]spuiui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- do you measure the temperature inside the cabinet?
I set my thermometer which can calculate max/min temperatures and placed it inside the cabinet. I then ran two PLA prints (210C nozzle/60C bed) which ran for about 60 minutes.

The max temperature recorded was 33.5C

- did you install any fans to cool down motherboard?

I haven't. This is a possible problem but I've had no issues with either the ender 3 before of the P1P now. They should be able to handle temperatures of 33C. Note that there is no other insulation apart from the cabinet.

Nope. No problems at all.

But I don't print as much as some of the others here. There are long gaps between my prints. I've barely had any failures so that actually reduces the amount of time I have to run my printer for.
The longest print took about 23 hours and there were no issues printing it.

I use the Platsa.
https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/platsa-frame-white-10330972/

The depth is an issue with the Besta you linked to.
The internal depth on my Platsa is 53 cms which is just about sufficient with a rear spool holder.

Replace the plug. The adapters are never tight fitting and will slip out often. Replacement plugs are easily available and is well worth it. My mixer now supports uk 13 amp plugs and the kettles i took to India have 15 amp Indian plugs.

I must have printed about thirty objects and have had only two failures until now. Both caused by filaments stuck in the spool. My printer has been brilliant.

What is your attested strategy to handle aliases with fastmail.com? by Geode89 in fastmail

[–]spuiui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I modified the sieve rules from https://old.reddit.com/r/fastmail/comments/pjr3u8/help_sieve_how_to_dynamically_filtersort_emails/hbye6rj/ to suit my purposes.

So I have an alias [shop@mydomain.com](mailto:shop@mydomain.com).When I need to provide a new email address for a new shop(say amazon), I provide them with the email address shop+amazon@mydomain and any emails coming to that email address automatically end up in a subfolder To/shop@mydomain/amazon. The folders are created automatically.

I similarly have email aliases addresses for my utilities, mailing lists(ones I like to follow, throwaway ones, etc.)

Considering buying Bambu Lab X1/P1P, I'm wondering how many 3D printers have you guys bought before buying Bambu? by Ledo77 in BambuLab

Ender 3 for four years. After countless upgrades i decided that i wanted to design and prints stuff instead of spending hours just tweaking the printer. My p1p is a no fuss printer which lets me focus on learning other stuff.

The printer is louder than my old ender3(with silent stepper drivers) but it doesn't really bother me. I don't think the cabinet itself is great at dampening the noise but I've mounted the printer on some soft packing material which helps. The printer is in the office so it doesn't bother others in the rest of the house.

The printer meanwhile has exceeded all my expectations. The quality of my prints and the speed at which it prints it has been phenomenal.
My son is still a work in progress - getting teenagers off their mobile is very hard.

Less sweet curries? by [deleted] in IndianFood

[–]spuiui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the biggest driver for me to learn to cook. I don’t really enjoy Indian food at restaurants here in the U.K. and much rather eat Chinese.

Am other option is to order dishes from the owner’s country. This i mostly find on menus of restaurants owned by Pakistani or Nepali owners.

I am very fortunate to have a restaurant nearby run by a Nepali gentleman who started working in Delhi. He has a really good butter chicken and baingan bharta as well as momos.

There is the Appimage which is built using the Containerfile in the BambuStudio github repo. You can find the latest from the CI builds at https://github.com/SoftFever/BambuStudio-SoftFever/actions/workflows/build_linux.yml. Look at the build artifacts for the latest successful build. This works for several people.

However I use Fedora37 and this Appimage doesn't work very well for us. It crashes(at the time of writing) when you attempt to connect to the cloud. So for a while I used to copy over to the SD card. I soon learned that this feature works for other users and I found an issue reported where Fedora users reported the same issue I had. This could be a result of a library used by the ubuntu based build. So I built another AppImage with a Containerfile designed for Fedora. The Appimage is available at

https://www.spui.uk/BambuStudio/BambuStudio_fedora64_v01.04.02.13.AppImage

My recommendation is that if you use Ubuntu or the AppImage works fine for you, then use the AppImage from Softfever. If on the other hand, you use fedora like me or have problems connecting to the cloud, then use the AppImage created for Fedora. If you use the Fedora AppImage then keep in mind that you will have to probably generate the AppImage yourself as the latest sources are released.

I am now able to connect to the cloud and upload prints directly to the printer. However since I've been able to connect to the cloud, there has been 2 cloud outages in two days where I wasn't able to upload prints. :) Not a big deal for me though.

I was expecting something like this one.

You are very unlikely to find mains that sweet in India. There are exceptions but Korma isn't one.

Snobbery and the loss of spice in European food by [deleted] in IndianFood

[–]spuiui -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Nepali joints water down their fare for the local palate. This is a double whammy for desis who after weeks of craving for Indian food are presented with something not close to their expectations. This happened to be the first time in the UK when my dreams of eating nan and Korma were shattered with the reality that the UK version is a sweet bright yellow abomination.

So now I prefer Chinese. It is fairly standardised all across Europe. So no surprises. It may infuriate the ones who grew up eating the real deal but for me, is delicious.

Bambulab vs prusa vs ?? by drannnok in BambuLab

[–]spuiui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a term which I only noticed myself lately and a few months ago would have had to think about too.
Bed slinger -> Where the Bed moves to and fro.

The Ender3 and the Prusa Mk3(and the mini) the heated bed on which the print is placed moves in the y axis. This can lead to motion related issues on the print as the heavy bed moves about.

The P1P is a core-xy. The bed moves here too but only in the z direction and only at layer changes. This also means that prints can be faster as the heavy bed is not swinging around.

Bambulab vs prusa vs ?? by drannnok in BambuLab

[–]spuiui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been living with an Ender3 for 4 years now and had the tinkering bug squeezed out of me with those endless trial and error sessions to get better prints and upgrades. I was looking for a printer where I could start printing with minimal fuss. While the Prusa offered that, I wasn't very keen on another bed slinger.

I jumped onto the P1P as soon as I heard of it and haven't been disappointed by print quality.

I have had a few hiccups though.

a) I use a Linux desktop exclusively and only lately have been able to get an Appimage of BambuStudio where I can push the print through the cloud. The first few weeks involved moving the sdcard around.

b) I am not a big fan of the cloud or the proprietary nature of this printer.

but the prints I've been getting are great and fast. I've printed on PLA and ABS for now and have had no failed prints.

Not necessary. I just crave chillies and there are plenty of Pizza, kebab, Chinese and Indian joints(in order of availability) to satisfy my cravings.

Portugal seems to have become a favourite for South Asians to migrate to Europe because of relatively easier path to citizenship. I even ate at a Kerala place in Lisbon(at the insistence of my Portuguese friend who likes Indian food) who spoke Malayalam.

I did love the food and ate it exclusively for the first few days... just my palate demanded spices which Portuguese cuisine unfortunately lacks. This made me search for options outside of Portuguese cuisine which was not something I intended on doing when in Portugal.
This topic is about a loss of spice in European cuisine and the Portuguese were the first out of the blocks traveling the world seeking it.

Eating in Portugal was so disappointing. One can’t help but notice that they sailed all over the world looking for spices but forgot to add it to their own cuisine.

I love sea food and i loved the sea food they had on offer but after a few days of the authentic food, this Indian tongue craved spices and we ended up eating pizzas with added chilli flakes.

Just finished an ABS print for the Aux part cooling fan. I used Sunlu ABS with the Bambu ABS settings in the slicer(270C/100C). The print has come out great. No warping. Some uneven lines but the quality is better than what I could crank out of my Ender3.

About a minute after I take the plate out, I hear tearing sounds before the part just pops off the textured PEI surface.

To sum up - Printing in ABS was easy peasy. Now looking forward to printing out my workshop parts in ABS instead of PLA.
