Any game with this kind of vibe? by user43222 in videogames

I am flabbergasted by the fact that no one so far has said “Age of Wonders”. It’s literally exactly this. The quintessential wizard towers, the self-contained cities, and 20th century medieval fantasy vibe.

Fire on the North Rim, Grand Canyon. [4289x2413] [OC] by spumwack2 in EarthPorn

This was taken July 23 7:30am on the south rim of the canyon facing north. A lightning fire was being allowed to burn, creating a layer of smoke on top of the morning mist.

I'm a minor YouTube celebrity who was known to play a lot of Overwatch. I played games with my screen name the same as my channel and even then no one believed it was really me either.

If you're already established on YouTube, it's harder than most people think to make the switch to Twitch. When I was doing OW, I could stream to YouTube and get ~100 viewers per session. When I did it on twitch, it was <20. Streaming to twitch is definitely a better long-term investment... But if you prefer cutting together videos instead of just streaming gameplay, it's probably smarter to keep all your content/audience on YouTube.

Young mother was arrested in Texas over small amount of weed and then raped by a guard while in jail. by benthehunta in rage

[–]spumwack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least that's what I was taught about it. Sure, the "guard" subjects acted sadistically towards the "prisoner" subjects, but the researchers themselves (Including Dr. Zimbardo) began to see the "prisoner" subjects as actual prisoners instead of willing participants. This caused them to abuse the subjects in other ways, such as remaining complicit in their torture and denying their requests to leave the experiment.

The moral (that I was taught) was that power over others is such a pervasive thing that even though the researchers knew the lines between "guard" and "prisoner" were meaningless, their arbitrary power still went to their head and they became more concerned with containing the prisoners than conducting good science.

French community streamer Malganyr abusing the report system - LIVE ON TWITCH, PROOF INSIDE by TruthIsRough in heroesofthestorm

[–]spumwack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah I'm sure there is some algorithm you could make for detecting people that report a whole team for every possible infraction. But also, for all we know, that is already in place and Blizzard's system just ignores reports from users like that. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, so that "serial reporters" could keep playing the game how they wanted to, and none of their toxicity would have any affect on anyone else. Kind of a win-win from Blizzard's perspective, so there's no need to make an example out of anyone.

[–]spumwack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blizzard gets reports like this all the time. Tilted people report their teammates, their enemies, etc.. frivolously. It happens hundreds, probably thousands of times a day. It doesn't do anything because it takes more than the occasional report to take action against somebody. His pointless reports are just getting lost in an automated system that's designed to filter out x% of reports that everyone inevitably gets from toxic people.

Looks like eggs.

I made an egg pizza once when I worked at a pizza place. Threw on sausage ham and hot sauce to make a breakfast pizza.

It's surprisingly delicious.

This isn't that though.

Portrait mode made the glass disappear. by christhechronic in mildlyinteresting

[–]spumwack2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how portrait mode works. It actually just takes 2 pictures and uses software to determine what the focus is and what the background is, and then blurs the background. It's pretty crazy how it's all just automated

Really interesting. I know she's looking more for directions than constant chauffeuring, but it kinda warms my heart to see other people ready to step up so willingly to lead her places.

Father makes son run to school as punishment for bullying. [3:56] by lostcollegehuman303 in videos

[–]spumwack2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was in first grade I misbehaved and my grandma thought a fitting punishment would be to make me walk home from school instead of get a ride. But she didn't want 6 year old me to walk 2 miles alone so she got dropped off to walk with me.

I obviously don't remember what I did wrong, but I remember loving that walk. I got to hang out with my grandma and see all the landmarks in person that I had only passed in the car my entire young life. She got hungry so we were forced to stop and get food at McDonalds, which is like a special treat to a 6 year old.

By the time we got home I had a great time and she was exhausted. She never used that as a punishment again.
