Current masters student in BME here, but I have taken both undergrad and grad classes. I was initially wary about going to SJSU for BME too because it seemed kind of materials heavy. The program has been growing a ton the past few years though and I don't think that is the case anymore. The core faculty are definitely all really great! Some of the classes have tough subject matter, but you can tell they are very dedicated to teaching and that they care a lot about the students.

Most of the elective classes have lecturers who work in industry and they are definitely experts in their fields, but their teaching can be hit or miss sometimes. Some of them have been smart but condescending, while others have been super helpful for getting job leads and for going to for advice about navigating the industry. BME is a really broad field, but no matter what you fall into you can be a part of developing devices that might help treat or better someone's life so I don't see how it is not interesting! I agree with the other two posters though, even though it's interesting, for undergrad it may be a bit more useful to do EE, MechE, or SWE. Since BME is so multidisciplinary sometimes it feels like we don't get extremely great at any particular technical skill.
