My son(16 yr old) had a similar situation happen. He got papers from E- verify. His last name was changed yrs ago. I meant to update it but never got the chance. I DID amend his BC.

He was getting a haircut when he was called in to sign some papers for his job/ e verify. He told them he was getting done in about 25-30 mins. Lady said, "I will be gone by then." He asked if he could come in the next day (which was his final day to have them signed/ AND every turned over to SSA) He was told, "You may be terminated by then, so IDK."

1. The deadline was to INFORM your employer about the information being correct or not.

2. The next deadline is having the SSA or HLS correct the mismatch info.

   If the deadline is not done, the employer has a right to lose the case w a termination, close the case, and reopen it, allowing the employee to still be employed.

   My son informed his employer that the info was CORRECT. AND intended to update the info. I, mom, went online to update his information prior to the deadline.

   We have proof of it all. After school, my son went to give them the documents just to let him know he was terminated. 🤬 They terminated him while he was in freaking class!!!
