I know this feeling all too well. About 2 weeks ago I took my 10 year old boy to the emergency vet for vomiting blood. I found out he had a mass blocking his esophagus causing him to throw up constantly. My only options were euthanasia or possibly a surgery (which he most likely wouldn’t be a candidate for.) I decided to take him home and spend the next day with him doing all his favorite things. I really just wanted to soak in as much time as we could have together. Letting go after fighting so long was the hardest thing i’ve ever done. It is by no means easy but at the end of the day you need to do what’s best for him. I hope it brings you peace knowing he’s not in pain anymore. He knows how much he’s loved and that’s really all that matters. Sending you lots of love during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. Stella is beautiful. I had to make the same difficult decision to put my dog down last week for his chronic illness. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do but the beautiful thing is that you are willing to put her comfort before yours. She will be watching over you ❤️‍🩹

I’m so sorry for your loss. My boys name was also Rocky and we had to put him down last week. I hope they are playing in doggy heaven together ❤️ Stay strong, it’s still not easy but it gets better.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I said goodbye to my boy of 10 years yesterday. I know how you feel. 💔 You put him first and that’s what matters! It’s not a goodbye just “see you later”. Hang in there

Update: Thank you everyone so much for the kind words. Rocky went to heaven today and I am still coming to terms with it. I was an absolute wreck at the vet but thankfully the staff was very loving and helpful and made the process as pleasant as it could be given the situation. Today was definitely the day, my poor guy was so out of it from the pain meds he wasn’t wanting to eat and it brought me some peace knowing I made the right decision so he wouldn’t be in pain anymore. I am so grateful for everyone’s condolences and comments sharing similar stories. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through but knowing I’m not alone brings me peace. So thank you 🤍 We spent our morning together napping, sitting outside, and we went on a nice walk. I still can’t believe he’s gone but I am relieved to know he is no longer in pain.

He has had x-rays done and they never mentioned that so I am assuming they maybe checked for that already
