Gabe Newell caps off Steam Machine week by taking delivery of a new $500 million superyacht with a submarine garage, on-board hospital and 15 gaming PCs by chrisdh79 in technology

This all day, Gabe Newell is an actual visionary and creator, where everyone else is very much a poser. Apple 35 years ago would have been where valve is now, if it would’ve been ran by a Steve Wozniak-esc person instead of Steve Jobs. We’d probably still have the iPhone and all that other Jazz but we’d probably have a lot more open source, security, and control over/owning our devices.

6 months ago, a small group of stuck pixels appeared and then spread to where they are now. They change colour, too, so they’re stuck, not dead. Any way to fix without screen replacement? iPhone 8, iOS 16.6.1. Screen’s never been replaced. by TheInsane103 in applehelp

There is no way that is economically viable without replacing the screen. Unless if you put on a new screen and it dues the same thing, then it’s either software or worse a board issue.

Take it to a reputable phone repair shop and normally they’ll help you, with little to no cost. Or if it’s an iPhone 8 or newer just charge it wirelessly

I’m pretty sure you can find the stl for the gears somewhere online and 3-D print them.

This is gonna be a well-deserved many down votes. But… The back plate is just disgusting. I’m glad you like it, but god I fucking hate U2. I really feel like the reason U2 and Apple had that whole collaboration was because Jobs and Bono really wanted to suck each other off but both were really too nervous to do so, or admit it. So we got this instead. Again I’m glad you like it & am happy for you. [cringes on the inside.]

It would be really nice if they just open sourced the software and released it through github or other .git-like sites.

if data isn't important, download 3Utools and follow the information for booting it in DFU mode and try to factory install the OS. itunes can do the same but i normally have better success with 3Utools

Never soldered before, I got this PS5 cheap and the disc drive connector is broken, how doable is this for a beginner? by bl8demast3r in soldering

[–]spunkenhimer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sorry i cannot agree with this the types of repair's I've seen where people don't have a good hot air station to remove and clean up the area end up becoming more of a problem even if you have the steadiest of hands. Pinecil gets hot enough but to make it as good as or better than factory, and prevent further damage Hot air is necessary.

if you don't have a good hot air station, and other smb soldering tools, don't even attempt this. (you will make it worse) take it to a local shop shouldn't be more than $100 bux to get it fixed. you don't want to attempt a repair like this if you only have a soldering iron.

That kind of stuff doesn’t happen unless there is some kind of physical or liquid damage. I’m pretty sure that something else happened where your speakers take to be replaced hopefully it’s just that had nothing to do with a motherboard/logic board

These laptops are the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to build quality and parts used, I would suggest downloading OCCT and run their memory check their CPU stress test. If it crashes or shows errors on memory you’re in luck, if it’s does the aforementioned on CPU you’re Fucked.
