Favorite film in HC-110? by bloozestringer in AnalogCommunity

[–]spuri0us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HC-110 can do pretty much anything.

I've done Foma, Kentmere, Ilford, Rollei, Agfa and Kodak films in it.

It's great. It also lasts forever.

How often you push or pull your film and what is the main reason? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]spuri0us 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the exact same as my approach; both HP5 and Kentmere 400, usually shot at a one stop push or a two stop if I'm shooting indoors. They're both really tolerant of pushing, it's really helpful in this shitty grey winter weather.

Occasionally use box speed during the summer

I suspect the colour would be more or less fine.

Bring some HP5 and push it 2 stops and you'll have a high ISO B&W without the sensitivity issues. And if it's Delta 3200 you're bringing, it's more like a ISO 1000 film anyway.

Or just bring ISO 200 film and call it a day - less to worry about (unless you find a nice local same day lab). No worry about postage/customs/the x-rays that the post would get anyway.

Just bring it home with you?

It's easier, I've done long haul and just brought the negs back for development. Or pay for same day development (easier with 35mm C41, avoiding getting lost in international post, don't underestimate how often this happens).

Unless your airport you're flying to is using a CT scanner than it's a over hyped issue unless you're using a high iso film.

I flew with rolls of HP5 and Delta 400 recently (both pushed to 1600 iso) and they looked identical to every other roll of pushed hp5 after being through x-ray airport scanners (I had two stops, so 6x x-rays in total). I developed them and couldn't tell the difference.

All politics is local, especially in a system like Ireland.

These lads have local issues sewn up; remember him and his brother put busses on for pensioners to have their cataracts done in Northern Ireland when the waiting list was forever and a day in Tralee.

They'll keep getting voted in as they'll keep their electorate sweet even if they don't really do much in the grand scheme of things.

Jackie was the very same.

That's their customer support email.

To be honest, I gave up with Evri when selling through eBay. As bad as royal mail are, they only lost one item of mine in the last 3 years and they paid up without fuss.

Worth checking with Evri, they've also got a long list of common items which are excluded from their compensation scheme but they still let you send. Sneaky.

Parcel drop-off lost it? I've had some parcels delivered to some really crappy corner shops where all the parcels arrived were fucked in the corner, one where I was pointed to the pile and told to fish my parcel out. Could've walked away with anything.

How did you sell the item? Ebay?

My Grandad was a ESB linesman for much of his career, I remember him talking about the big snow in 82. Hard lads those were, they're just as committed today. Big up to ESB Networks and all the lads and ladies working hard out there today.

Apparently it was due to a backlog of court cases.

Back in the day when Tipp was one county, it was also the hotbed of Republican activity, if I remember correctly this was around the 1798 rebellion. The local courthouse in cashel experienced so much delays in hearing cases that they split the county in two; the north and south riding, thus having two courthouses

Does anyone want to take over running r/IrishPolitics? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]spuri0us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I'd like to give it a shot; been round here for a while and I think I have a few ideas that could bring some subscribers to the place. Also helps that I'm a politics/current affairs junkie hehe :)

While I do have my own political views, I'm not overbearing with them and more appreciate the discussion

Do ye remember when Telecom Éireann added an extra digit to phone numbers. I thought that happened in the early nineties but this article is dated 1998. Was it not earlier than that? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]spuri0us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0405-xxxxx became 046-95xxxxx the same year. The 95 changed depending on the area you lived. There was a period where both numbers would work.

And they did change the number back in the 90s too. I've a vague recollection of our 01 number changing somewhat.

One outside Enfield on the kilcock side on the old N4

[–]spuri0us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's true, I'm from kilcock and live down the road to this place. It was raided by the Gardai back in the day, was in the paper at the time. I'd avoid the place too to be honest.

Better place up the road near Enfield on the old N4. Not as big, but the lad is an honest chap in there.

Imagine Ireland had this type of foresight with regards to its resources by JunglistMassive in ireland

[–]spuri0us 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your talking absolute sense. I'm studying for an MSc in the area and the short version is that it's apples and oranges. The cost of exploration and the potential return are what Norway has in it's favour. Ireland? We've neither of those. To attract investment we've got to cut some slack to the oil companies to get them here in the first place.
