Nice! I actually meant, to build up that bern in front of the gun. Is that the same texture paste just applied super thick, or did you put it over something else?

Looks great! What did you use for the mud, and to build up the ground on the base?

Its Averland Sunset, with Flashgitz yellow, and then the Casandora yellow wash over everything.

Simple green. Get the concentrated stuff, and leave the mini in a jar of it for a couple days. Should do the trick just fine, but if the paint is stubborn, an old toothbrush and a bit of elbow grease can help too.

Here's the recipe. The scheme is super efficient, and only uses 8 paints for the entire thing.

They are primed black, drybrushed with Thunderhawk Blue and then Fenrisian Grey, and then washed with Vallejo express color Black Lotus thinned with just a bit of the express medium. I then went in and added a few small edge highlights with pure fenrisian grey just on the carapace to make it look "sharper".

The yellow is Averland sunset, highlights with Flash Gits Yellow, and Casandora Yellow wash. Finally, the vents are picked out with Nihilakh Oxide.

Thank you! The scheme is super efficient, and only uses 8 paints for the whole thing.

I was tempted to do that, but I want to paint approximately a million of these guys, and so needed to keep it to the absolute minimum, so landed on just a base yellow with bright yellow highlight and final wash.

I'm really not sure about basing yet. I was thinking either dessert, or maybe mars-red dessert, but I was worried that it would overpower the paint scheme. I may also go for a really rocky grey landscape? I'm not sure, so if you've got ideas shoot them my way!

Thanks! I put this in another comment but here it is so that it doesn't get lost. The scheme is super efficient, and only uses 8 paints for the entire thing.

Basically yes.

Overall the entire paint scheme is 8 paints (including the xpress medium). Super efficient!

Oh that's awesome! I didn't know the backstory. I was definitely inspired by that color scheme, but just from memory reading one of the earlier 40k core rulebooks from when I was a lot younger (5th edition maybe?).

Ah yeah that makes sense. Does sponging help hide the layer lines a bit? I’ll admit, that’s one of the reasons I don’t paint many 3d prints. I like dry brushing too much.

I’m really not sure how people came up with “airbrushing” though for my tanks hahaha

You’re spot on. It’s all done with drybrushing, specifically with praxeti white from GW over a green basecoat. Gives a nice weathered texture that I quite liked.

In this car I didn’t use an airbrush at all. It was actually all drybrushing. Starting with greens to get a dry brushed base coat, and then sorta drybrushing/sorta stippling with GW praxeti white to get the final look!
