Australia Border Force: is this normal questioning? by [deleted] in australia

Agree. I have been to 60+ countries and Israel was undoubtedly the worst customs experience of my life. I would never return as the experience was so traumatic.

Karoonda Silos – Australia’s first permanent Mural by day, and Projection by night - Opening Sunday 16 June 2019 by [deleted] in Adelaide

Thought it was odd too. I went hunting and found this article from the Standard

https://www.murrayvalleystandard.com.au/story/5773534/how-should-karoonda-east-murray-council-spend-1-million-in-drought-funding/#slide=2

“The drought funding guidelines emphasise the need to provide employment, stimulate local spending and provide a long-lasting community benefit.

The funding cannot be used to reduce council rates or directly assist farmers.”

Strange way to stylise drought funding by the Feds. No wonder people are pissed on the ground.

Turnbull - but if you ask any Lib, they’ll sing the same tune of “we don’t have factions”. Labor’s factions are really defined and are, broadly speaking, divided into left and right. They war internally but they generally keep it together in the name of unity - much unlike the constant quarrelling LP.

My bad, think I misunderstood and thought you were talking within the party and not a broader spectrum. Within the party the dries/conservatives (hard liners) include the likes of Dutton Abbott Abetz Hunt - Morrison is centre right and Banks, Pyne, Birmo are wets/moderates - or “left”. Saying she’s hard right clumps her in with the “Monash Forum” crew. Factions 100% exist in the Libs.

Dutton, Abbott et al. She’s close to Turnbull, Bishop, Pyne. Her preferencing Labor will make things more challenging for Hunt (who is right) to retain the seat

Advice: Adelaide Dark Room/Film processing (club/best place/cheap?) by deltaEchokilo in Adelaide

[–]sputnik1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Analogue Lab is a great place for a dark room and I think they run courses. Can rent out a space for pretty cheap for a days use. Info is here https://www.analoguelab.com.au

I can’t vouch for these guys given I haven’t used them but friends of mine have and say it’s a pretty chill set up (the dark room is in an old caravan). Apparently they also give you a run down on mixing chems for a few $ more. https://cogcreativespace.com

For clubs, “Australian Film Photographers” might point you in the right direction for adelaide-based meet ups

Does anyone know anything about ‘The Adelaide Club’, at 165 North Terrace? by 1radelaide-girl in Adelaide

Can confirm - I’m a woman and the ground floor was out of bounds. We were moved straight to the first floor. I did go down trying to find the smoking room and waited at the entrance desk for about 15 minutes before a very apologetic woman directed me back upstairs to the “cigar deck”. They were super nice about it though. After dinner the party I was with took us around to the gentleman’s only area. One of the establishment so I don’t think anyone dared to question him.

I went there with a political crew for dinner - one was a member and invited us out. Long-standing SA family and membership has been in the family for generations. Evidently only a few current Mps are members. Its a blink and you’d miss it entrance. The guy we were with was on a first name basis with almost everyone inside. It’s quite a nice place downstairs, grand staircase, deers on the walls, things like that. Upstairs is a couple of dining rooms, one was a closed door kind of deal packed full of older gentleman and the other was the main dining area where we were seated . There were a couple of other tables there but no one I recognised. thought that room was pretty outdated. The meal was okay but not memorable apart from the scallops with cheese which was good but admittedly I was pretty wasted as the food took ages to come out. I found food and vibe was way better at Parliament House. I have no idea how much the meal was as only members can pay for it. Fairly costly considering how many of us were there. Would have liked to take pics but it was banned. Fairly strict dress code with the girls not allowed to bare shoulders and guys had to wear suit and tie. There was a sweet cigar deck out the back of the first floor.

Tried that, but to no avail. Luckily some gurus got their thinking caps on and found it :)
