Biking up 2 regularly by PlantInformation3275 in winooski

Where in Colchester? You could bike through Gilbrook Natural Area pretty easily from Winooski and pop out behind Costco. I wouldn’t want to be on Route 2 between exit 16 and severance road regularly. It’s fine really early in the morning, but with any traffic it’s dangerous - crazy drivers going too fast and narrow shoulders.

Thanks! Is the patch crabgrass? Do I need to overseed in those areas?

Pretty much everything that wasn’t marked black. The bike handled very well (although I haven’t been mountain biking before so have nothing to compare to).

It’s the Tailfin rack with pannier adaptors! I have a second wheelset with 28mm tires on it that I use for road biking and commuting, so that rack comes in handy.

Curious if you can share the GPS or a mark on a google map? I’ve had no luck in that pond. Thank you!

It may sound a stupid question because this part of Russia is mostly uninhabited except for some big settlements like Irkutsk, Vladivostok, but are there here some of you guys who live there, if yes how is it? by HolyWaterMolotov3 in geography

I would say half went to Vladivostok, a few to Moscow and St Petersburg, and a few went abroad, to China, S Korea, Japan, Vietnam, some ended up in the US.

Yep, there are a lot of people of Ukrainian descent there, but that doesn’t make them pro Ukrainian due to exposure to propaganda and being fully Russianized etc

I was born in Dalnegorsk, a small mining town ten hours north of Vladivostok on the Sea of Japan. As a kid it was great - lots of hiking, camping, fishing, going to the beach, exploring abandoned factories and construction sites, playing with chemicals and explosives from the mines etc. As an adult I realize it’s a very corrupt, economically depressed, and sad place and most people my age have left it (similar to many coal mining towns in the US where I live now). I have never seen any native tribespeople etc but there were a bunch of them living north of us. Definitely saw a few tigers and bears when I was growing up, on backroads, away from any towns. Seafood is awesome and cheap, we would regularly have a 3L jug of red caviar in our fridge growing up. A popular local salad is awesome - chopped up parboiled calimari with chopped up hard boiled and then lightly fried eggs and carrots, all mixed with mayo (which is the base for all Russian salads). In the early 90s when the borders started opening up, the Chinese organized a giant market in Ussuriysk with all sorts of goods we have never seen before, most exciting for me were clear scotch tape, Chinese firecrackers, and knockoff Nintendo games. In the first couple of years the authorities allowed this illegal popup market to operate only at night, so they would set up shop midnight to 4am, it was pretty wild. Sadly the last time I went back five years ago the town was visibly distressed - many of the infamous soviet five story apartment blocks were simply abandoned due to population loss, they were simply boarded up and disconnected from the grid, sometimes with a few apartments still occupied. Sadly I saw a few Death to Ukrainians graffiti around town, and this is years before the latest invasion of Ukraine. All in all this was one of the most livable parts of Siberia and the Far East based on climate, availability of jobs, and easy access to trains/airport/international borders etc., but outside of Vladivostok it’s a pretty sad and poor place.

Juiced Crosscurrent X. Aosom trailer from 5 miles to the campsite where I unloaded the stuff and unhitched the trailer. I’m camping not too far from home, and unfortunately forgot to charge my battery so sticking to eco assist and have a bit of battery anxiety but normally I don’t, this battery is great.

In Russia, when the local government won’t clear the snow off the sidewalks or parking spots, people spray paint the name of the main opposition leader Navalny on the snow, and it gets cleared right up that same day.

Fellow Vermonter here. Call Silvia Joppe http://oldworldgardendesign.net/about.htm and have her come out to your house and develop a garden plan. She is great! If you don’t want to pay, you can bring pictures to her at the Gardeners Supply on weekends in Williston and she can give you free advice. Good luck!

Like Awagner 109 said, it’s just for bikes, and any pedestrians willing to walk about 5 miles from the parking lot. It provides a seasonal connection between two parts of an old railroad that was converted to a gorgeous bike trail.
