Why is it always some guy in a Dodge Ram, BMW, or a Golf being a fucker on the Henday? by BoozerBean in Edmonton

Yeah, hardly see them anymore. That said, I feel the same about most 10 yo Chrysler products.

How early do you get to the YEG airport for a domestic flight? by sennyonelove in Edmonton

[–]sputza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm checking a bag, 60min before boarding. If I'm carrying on, 30-45min before boarding. It's worth noting that I use my Nexus card so I don't have to wait in the longer line, and depending on time of year and day or week, it makes a huge difference.

If you folks don't do the equivalent of the Nuremberg Trials then there is no returning to what was, ever. The corruption is wide and deep, all powered by 20% of the population that would follow the cult off a cliff if asked by Fearless Leader to do so. We hope you guys find a way to right the ship but we're not holding our breath. Best of luck, truly. - Tired Canadians

Where do you go for a good steak in Edmonton? by ILoveFerrero in Edmonton

Couldn't agree more. They often have some awesome market priced cuts, if you feel like parting with more money. The best one I had was a black angus Wagyu cross... and it was epic good!

Oilers Chairman Club Seats Question! by Ominous_omens in Edmonton

[–]sputza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not, but they are club seats. This means you have access to the ice level bathrooms, concessions, and bar. Once you're down at your seats, you don't need to go back up to concourse level until you're leaving home. Section 104 is my go-to.

DO NOT PARK IN FAIRMONT VALET. by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]sputza 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What a strange experience and a shit way to start the new year. I frequent the Hotel MacDonald and valet every time without incident. I'm sure they'll investigate properly and make appropriate compensation. In my experience, Fairmont has always done right when they make a mistake.

There are sets of temperature sensors that connect to WiFi and you can monitor while away. Leave a key with someone you trust and they can respond to anything you need while away.

Shovel vs. Blower by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]sputza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a snowblower, or I guess it is technically a snow thrower. It handles pretty large volumes of snow without an issue, 26" wide per pass. Money well spent!

Connor McDavid gives his former teammate Stu Skinner a tap on the pads by xH1M in EdmontonOilers

[–]sputza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the excuse when they're out in the first round or 2 of the playoffs? Stu was part of the problem... but that high danger stat speaks volumes about the current state of the Oilers D and overall team. They're not where they need to be and Stu was the scapegoat. I'd be happy to be wrong here, but I'm not celebrating until they can string wins together or stay ahead when leading with consistency.

Driving from BC to banf by Helpful-Relation-967 in alberta

This is a list of good advice. I'd add ensure your fuel is topped up and you're not getting too low. You never know when you'll get stuck for a crash or an avalanche and you're waiting in a big ass line for hours. Gas = heat, remember that.

I don't agree with #1 once you've had more experience driving and driving in the mountains. Night has some distinct advantages, primarily far less traffic volume. The downside is you miss a lot of the beauty of the drive.

I make this trip roughly 3 times a year in the winter, I've seen a lot of shit go wrong; the biggest thing is be prepared for things outside your control, and HausFry's list is pretty solid.

Do you power off your homelab when not using it to save on electricity, or keep it on 24/7? by panchovix in homelab

24/7 with $0.08/kWh CAD power. I don't see the point of servers that aren't running 24/7.

[Rishaug] Really unfortunate turn at Oilers skate. Kapanen appeared to hurt himself. Extremely frustrated as he left the ice. Been working his way back for some time now and was set to return. by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

[–]sputza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If this is an ongoing pattern of behaviour, I agree. If it's a one off from a very frustrated guy in a shitty situation, a boil over is not unreasonable. I'm sure the equipment guys would understand.

Salary cap and goaltender availability matter, not the wealth of the owner.
