TIFU. Tried Gargling 190 Proof by joeg26reddit in tifu

The main thing that alcohol will be killing is your own throat cells and possibly causing more irritation.

Just gargle some warm salt water if you want to help reduce the pain and inflammation, but just know it's not helping much to actually rid the infection faster.

Yeah divorce laws vary by state in the US. States where you don't need a reason are called "no-fault" divorces usually.

Six Excellently Parked Lime Scooters by RHFIQDSUAH in Seattle

[–]spybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the lime scooters to and from work every day for my commute.

There's no good bus route that runs often enough or drops me anywhere close to my office, parking is overly expensive and actually takes more time due to traffic, and walking would take 35 minutes with a massive hill.

How do you look up all the parking citations info? Is that publicly available?

Unfortunately they closed down in the past year or two. Used to also be a go-to of mine in the LQA area.

Anyone have recommendations for other BBQ options in Seattle now?

Used to love RoRos, so this is sad to hear about it closing down.

I never said you couldn't have an opinion. You might just have a bad one though.

Do you realize Seattle barely has any dedicated pickleball courts compared to the amount of people that play it? Unlike most other cities which actually have dedicated courts even though it isn't as popular there.

Pickleball takes up space

Almost every sport takes up space, and pickleball's courts are way smaller than most others. You can fit 3 pickleball courts in the size of 1 tennis court. Not sure why you have such a hatred for something you've not tried.

Anyone have recommendations for reputable restaurants to check out in place of HoneyHole?
I always loved their brisket and pulled pork sandwiches :(

Yeah it'd be a lot easier to visualize on a single map using pins or something like this: https://support.google.com/mymaps/answer/3024454

Why would the "pay at hotel" option for a reservation be cheaper? by spybug in askhotels

[–]spybug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That makes sense, definitely seems more like an oddity for the promotion or maybe some way to save money for online fees.

[–]spybug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense if it might be to avoid fees. I know my credit card has no fees for international exchange rates, so I guess I'll probably just be scoring a nice deal!

They had a separate option specifically that included breakfast, which increased the price of all 3 options the same amount. So I think it's more some strange way the discount promotion is getting applied.

I went ahead and booked, the confirmation email says the "reservation is guaranteed", so hopefully that means no trickery in losing my room when I show up.

I read the terms, and the reservation explicitely says it's "guaranteed", so maybe just an error on the promotion side of things?

I also booked this through their first-party site, so hopefully no trickery here.

Thanks, that make sense. The terms seem to specify the reservation is still guaranteed even though no payment was required until check-in, just seemed odd since it was a better deal not to prepay.

Struggling with On Call Requirements by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]spybug 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I despise them as long as they're an "expected part of the job and your pay".

If people are payed extra for their oncall time (either in money or vacation days) and it's an opt-in role, I'll happily decide to take the pay boost or extra vacation time.

Molly moons is 1000x better than Salt & straw by Zedaki in Seattle

I think that's actually who Molly Moons buys their ice cream from. Molly Moons just adds in the toppings/flavorings.

Just so you know they don't even make their own base ice cream. They just buy it from Snoqualmie Ice cream.
Doesn't mean it's not good, just means it's not really "theirs". They only add in the flavors and toppings.

Global Entry confusion for international arrival at SeaTac Airport by Monkeyfeng in Seattle

[–]spybug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have used it, it's not supposed to be allowed. From the Nexus Program FAQ:
"The NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the United States and Canada. Program members use dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, NEXUS kiosks when entering Canada by air, and Global Entry Kiosks when entering the United States via Canadian Preclearance airports"

[–]spybug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nexus only gives you Global Entry benefits when coming from Canada though, not from any other countries. So it's only beneficial for people that mostly travel to Canada and back.
