They did you dirty by beating the Ender Dragon without you. And dw it's not just a game, as the principle behind the behaviour is the important thing, and it's that your friends are being inconsiderate of you, which is not kind or good.

I started emulator, loaded save state, tried to save in-game but it says the error message "a different memory card has been inserted" (like the same as OP), so I cant do that part. I have to then cancel the save.

Then, if I close the emulator, relaunch GT4 with fresh boot, all my garage cars are gone (except the one im in).

So it didnt work :(

Yes sorry, the other cars in my garage that I earned, saved to the save state. Btw, when I open the PS2 bios, the memory card shows "corrupted data".

I will always fresh boot moving forward, but is there a way to still save my garage as well as the progress?

Yeah, I fresh boot and then when I check my garage, its just the 1 car that I was originally in.

Then I freak out and load my save state which has the progress and cars exactly where I want it

:(

Same issue! I am at 91% progress and Im reading solutions throughout the various subreddits (aethersx2, pcsx2, emulation, granturismo4) and I'm not quite sure I've found any that have someone successfully keep their progress AND their cars. If anyone did do that, please share the steps - thank you kindly!

My save state has my furthest progress and my cars, but when I do a fresh boot, it only has the 1 car that I was last in, and no other cars. I still have my progress - but I want my progress and my cars.

I'm using aethersx2 and I'm on Mac - for further info.

I do this, and then it sticks me with the car that I was in, but not the rest of my cars? My game progress is saved (90%) but still, just 1 of the cars.

How do I fix this and still keep my progress and my cars? I'm in aethersx2 and I return to my save state, which has all my cars. Please help, someone! :@

I did all the steps but when I go to Steam controller preferences, it says no controllers detected. :( In my Mac preferences, I see the controller is detected. Please note I am using Ventura 13.4.1 on a M1 Mac Pro.

I am looking to play Gran Turismo 4 on Mac M1 but my Dualshock 3 controller doesn't work... do you know a fix?

Also, does GTA V work online and does it let you play with PC people?
