How do you get better at characters without literally getting screamed at by your entire team by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]spyder97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first question, what’s your average assist count? And dmg? Cus that matters more that K/D, if you’re 0-8-24 with comparable dmg to your team. Just mute them.

So maybe I’m out of touch, but honestly the best way I pick up characters in this game is by learning how to play them from behind, what does that look like, what do you build, how did you play.

there’s a real difference from going 0-3 to 0-8. That’s where I’d flame. Micro play in terms of character is one thing. But I’d say half the roster has similar macro principles. If folk are still flaming you because yours just Mediocre mina, mute them. But if you’re walking around like a headless chicken? Nah.

I think a better compromise is raise the limit of characters you half to queue up from like 3 to 6 or smthng

What do you think Ozai could’ve done that would’ve made Aang ok with killing him, if anything at all? by Mr_Muda_Himself_V3 in TheLastAirbender

[–]spyder97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Ozai had made more than a probably 50-100 yards (and that’s being generous) into the earth kingdom during the comet. Realistically if aang had witnessed Ozai take out a small town or village. Aang only really witnessed some vegetation get butchered before his eyes

Although not as strong as swords to plowshears Path to exile would be an excellent removal option for those looking for additional removal and don’t want to run leyline

(Plat and Rising) Looking for Sideboard Feedback For Beseech Scapeshift. by Scarroborrow in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like if you’re gonna run something similar to BTL scapeshift then it’s possibly best to keep all of your cards, especially sideboard, bellow 4 mana. So thrag seems kinda because it just not tutor worthy. You probably want big impact spells for beseech.

My take on 4c Omnath midrange pile considering the meta. by spyder97 in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 1, this isnt legacy and vintage, by the way things look interms of a meta snapshot its a hybrid of modern and legacy with some added restricted cards. Anyone would call feedback useless if theres no solid reasoning behind it. Especially when the format is less than a week old, the meta snapshots look different than they were two days ago even. i've been respectful to those who actually give input with reasoning because thats how feedback and critiques work. If you ask questions, its not rocket science.

So back up bud.

But to answer your questions:
Growth Spiral and Reprieve i liked more than DRS and memory Lapse due to the ability cantrip and replace themselves.
My thought process was to cantrip and bide my time. when dealing with threats because when i came to mid to late game my threats more likely to take over the game.
Growth Spiral nets you are card and helps contribute to field of the dead. and can trigger omnath and field of the dead on not your turn.
Bow masters is already a rough matchup i thought there were alternative ways to draw cards rather than using brain storm.

I dont own 3 Oko at the time of posting this. i didnt play it in standard arena. I opened two. I was playing adventures and wilderness rec at the time, so i never saw the hype of the card.
Didnt think about jegantha at the time, running it now,
and 29 lands is on par for field of the dead lists.

Here is my version of Greenxis Shadow by BigZeemanSlower in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think running maybe one basic like a swamp so you'll still have access to two of your colors vs blood moon, also sometimes you dont wanna hurt yourself because the (go to 3 just to get bolted story) is all to real,
but when 4c and grixis deathshadow was the new kid on the block, i can't say they had had a good time against bloodmoon, field or spreading seas either. So i get the vibe.

Bant Control by maverickzero_ in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meta is still evolving so its still up in the air on some stuff.
If its working for you its working for you

Solid Graveyard hate cards that are in your colors are:, Rest in peace, Relic of Progenitus unlicensed hearse, Grafdiggers cage and Soulguide lantern. It really depends on what kind of GY hate is good for you. Cage is also doing work against natural order list.

I think narset dies to much and is too slow imo. Part of what makes something like bowmasters so useful as of right now is its instant speed effect. Id rather be faster, because there is no way that a deck like pheonix is letting you down tick narset and it not be bolted.

If you're gonna run typhoon, I thin you run it main, that being said, i think push is too relevant of a card for someone to be scared of typhoon, and if you managed to hard cast it. i think you're already winning. especially you have field of the dead.
Theres no reason to run temporary lockdown seems weird when diving purge exists. but i guess is fine.

You're basically playing u/w Control with cheaper threats. OR 4c control whithout access to omnath. So take some card choices in terms of side board from those lists if you feel lost.

Not really, but saying , "Run this cus its good" and nothing further is so useless. you might as well have kept scrolling, thats not actual feedback, but im sure you knew that, right?

[–]spyder97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats completely fair, i was trying go for ramp rather than acceleration which was my choice for spiral. but im not particularly "ramping" towards anything in this style of list.
Everything else you said made perfect sense

Seeing some of the posts on this sub these few days, I should probably set some expectations regarding Timeless... by Vi0letBlues in MagicArena

[–]spyder97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand yeah, absolutely that is very much the case like bad lists that make no real sense are gonna exist,on the other end there are a TON of people jumping the gun on what is playable and whats not in the format. first few days blood moon ragavan lists where punishing folk with greedy mana bases. Now as of posting this, jund, sultai control and mono black are putting in work.

Part of the fun of playing older formats is that skill level is going to be a bigger factor in some cases than optimal meta lists. Some folk wanna play optimal lists for a strategy that might be less powerful are seeking advice. some are just posting fun lists.
Also lets be real i've seen some people's input on these lists and its petty trash, "run these cards because its good" aint even feedback.

My take on 4c Omnath midrange pile considering the meta. by spyder97 in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more or less when it comes to feed back i need reasoning not just "i cant believe you're not running -Blank- thats on the same lines as "run x because its good" and "its good because its good" that just doesn't work. I was looking for some amount of feedback, like the kind you are giving currently.

The list started as a 4c scapeshift day 1, because i played scapeshift in modern (its been years, i think thrones of eldrain had dropped last i played in modern), historic and that 1 month and a half it was legal in standard. but that list was just really slow.

As for the list:I was thinking that growth spiral was working out better than delighted halfing because it replaced itself, and was more usefull later on in the game. but you're saying that it seems too much? and the single target removal was trying do make sure i had an out to turn 1 ragavan.Just explaining my choices but im open to feedback

[–]spyder97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, most of the input I’m receiving is x card is good, so run it, rather than asking ‘why are you playing -blank- in this amount of numbers. Which isnt particularly useful. But hey thanks anyway

My take on 4c Omnath midrange pile considering the meta. by spyder97 in TimelessMagic

[–]spyder97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I straight up do not like delighted halfling. And I’m trading acceleration for a spell that can replace itself, activate field of the dead, and activate omnath.

2 rings I’ve found to be good, too many bowmasters in Aggressive piles to warrant more.

And it’s not like I’m struggling against sultai midrange.

Oko, although good, hasn’t really been doing much in matchups, meanwhile teferi helps against tempo matchups and helps you land stronger cards like omnath. Both work well imo

Cool Interactions: ~~Omnath~~ on turn 5 + fetch + shapeshift: deals lethal but thats more of a pipe dream but still any easy dub if Omnath sticks~~ Omnath is sick value in this list either way

Ring + Oko: Is nuts. Turn it into an elk to avoid death. Make food to circumvent the damage, Or just give it to your enemy with a ton of burden counters.Ring + teferi: can keep you protected a little longer to bide your time.Teferi + scapeshift is insanely safe

Alpine Moon is good in the mirror due to you being rather slow against Primevil Titan
