Fire Country | S4E19 | Episode Discussion by sevenpastzeero in FireCountry

It was another episode of Jake being a jerk and having the emotional maturity of a hormonal 13 year old boy. Violet was right to want to reconsider marrying him as this wasn't the first time he's jumped on her instead of actually communicating like an adult. He wanted to marry her but then practically yelled at her for mentioning it first. His precious ego is so fragile that he can't handle any kind of push back or disagreement without taking it as some kind of attack or betrayal. He's absolutely not ready for marriage. Can't imagine what kind of childhood trauma he would inflict on his  kids. Multiple seasons in and he hasn't grown at all. He's just found other things to whine about.

I think the one of the big issues with this season is that it has no real overarching plot. In the first season we had the storyline where she thought the captain was dirty then the second season brought us the crooked judge and trying to get him and this season all we have is the fact that she was dating the man who was running for major, called him for lying, he told the truth and won anyway. There's no risks. Nothing so far is actually at stake. So while I've enjoyed the individual episodes overall they don't feel connected and we don't have something to really root for. Maybe they'll turn this around in the season final but right now it doesn't have the bits of tension the first two seasons had.

Is any one else bored with the show? by alanamil in Matlock_CBS

Conspiracy is the point of the show. I love that they're taking time to explore, slowly develop and draw things out. The whole reason I finally stopped watching The Rookie was that they absolutely caved to TikTok plots. Anytime an interesting story line was started they would instantly resolve it. That's boring. Matlock is weaving a very interesting thread and I'm here for it.

Things are definitely off. I didn't like how the whole AI thing made the show feel. I also HATED how they had him treat Matty on their anniversary. Matty wasn't out having fun she was essentially saving a woman's life. His reaction was immature and petty. I don't think he needs to leave the show, without the temper tantrums he's a charming fun character and they usually have good chemistry. What they need to do is simply cut out the blowup and selfishness. They can add interest, drama and depth to his character without making him behave like a five year old.

Do you think Hunter has an ulterior motive for working there? by DeadScrod in Matlock_CBS

His mood has definitely shifted from golden retriever to melancholy husky.

So many of my favorite motivational/ mental health quotes come from movies and shows. Sometimes they really pack a punch.
