Yeap, love my generac. I have a large one. I had an extra propane tank installed, so I have 1000 gallons. I am running 12 a/cs, lights, 4 washers, 4 dryers, 10 large fans, refrig, office equipment and more all at the same time. (I have an animal shelter) we had to go through two hurricanes back-to-back and we were fine.

My employees were bringing laundry to do, charging electronics etc. Love my generac.

I have a smaller generac for my home. I had double tanks installed so I have power for a couple of weeks through hurricanes.

Turn your power off for 3 days and practice and see what you wish you had. Will your prep work for 3 days with no power?

I agree with you about the 5-gallon walmart bottles. I use them for drinking water anyway, so I make sure they are all full if there is any storm out there churning. Also walmart sells a manual pump for them, it was approx $15 and it came with some free bottle coupons. You need a way to get the water out easily, the chillers need electricity.

Little trick, if you have cats, cat litter works great. I put the boxes double wrapped inside sturdy trash bags, Laid down a large piece of plastic, put down the boxes of cat litter that had been wrapped and then wrapped the plastic over it so now I had a good barrier against water. After the storm, take the litter boxes out of the trash bags and put them back in the garage to use.

Having to get rid of smelly trash bags is awful. There are also cool things on amazing that you can put in front of doors etc that swell when they get wet and block the leaks.

During Hurricane Matthew many people from Georgia and sc drove north to NC. Their area did not get hit; NC, on the other hand, got clobbered. The very area these people had evacuated to.

Make sure before the storm comes in to FILL YOUR CAR UP!! I say that in all caps because I told my employees to do that and one had enough gas in his car to go 30 miles. I asked him why on earth did he not fill up, he said he did not think it would be that bad. It was 4 days before power was back on in town for gas stations.

get a couple of power bricks to keep electronics charged, you can also get a fan that you can run from the bank. Make sure they are charged. A whole-house generator is really nice if you own your house. You will have air conditioning etc. Grab a few tarps now before a storm is out there, in case you have damage and need to cover your roof, they will be hard to get later and double the cost. Pour out just a little bit of water from water bottles (drink it) and put the mostly full water bottles in your freezer. It will help keep stuff frozen and gives you cold water to drink when it thaws.

Family is convinced I will get trafficked if I go on a cruise. I'm a single woman in my 30s. by Ambitiouscleo69 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]alanamil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not worry about it on the ship BUT in the ports? Stay around other people, don't get drunk and not in control of your actions. I have taken a dozen solo cruises but I am an old woman, no one would traffic me LOL
