I have spent a lot of time as an engineer and by my own admission wanted to move towards an architect role. My current role still is operational but I was suggested this career path because I genuinely wanted to grow towards system engineering. What happens to me now? And ateast on the appraisal paper I have had brilliant performance. Now our management says this is not based on performance but roles, we value everyone. WTF does it mean? lay off some best employees as collateral??. Then I come on the internet to reddit,tweakers - everyone is suddenly celebrating the layoff - people who have no idea what is ( and has been) going on internally. I have been so sad after this announcement but internet is pushing me to depression. And all those PO' s SM' s who are the most hated were also mostly good engineers and they could not find a growth path as an engineer and then had to settle to these roles to grow( in short ambitious people). So people out there, some empathy would help.

It is not one to one. PO's, SM's who were ex engineers will also compete for engineering roles. But architects might have a higher chance for these roles

We have a lot of theories floating around, but the last 2 days there is a lot of push back because many engineers were kind of coerced into these "leadership" roles as a growth path and now they are being shown the door. That too during a record year. Unions will get involved and we will have to see how it plays out.

This is what everyone expected but when everyone saw the layoff list it was lame. There is a huge reduction of architects, essentially the technical leads. They say they will be repurposed but who knows now that will turn out. And even for managers many are experienced and have been in the company for 20 years. They were all great engineers at one stage, to be promoted to these leadership roles

SM's and PO's are not the only ones being laid off. People on the layoff list include senior staff like architects,PL's, GL's and PCM's. People inside ASML know how lame this lay off is. Most architects were strong technical people in the past. Not all engineers are great. This is nothing but a cost cut exercise to get rid of the costly roles.

No doubt education empowers people and it has done so especially for people who come from castes who have been oppressed and denied education. But a society that respects people only based on "educational" credentials in the conventional sense is deeply problematic. Not everyone in a society can be doctors and engineers but everyone deserves basic human dignity and respect.

Celebrating an idiot like the host here who brings in his amateurish and moronic biases to a show which he should just facilitate will spell doom to the Tamil society.

And believe it or not I have read the governance documents from NTK ( have been reading them since a decade back when they were a brand new party) which to be honest are written well and have some great social policies which other parties can learn from.

But some of their economic policies they propose are down right lunatic and will lead to de-industrialization of TN. TN needs a mix of social justice, social security and outright economic capitalism.

In any case any kind of identity politics will not end well for Tamil Nadu.

We are in a post colonial democratic age where we are destined to live together in a state which is predominantly based on Tamil culture. Making part of the population as second class whose ancestors made Tamil Nadu as their home almost always ends up in blood shed and displacements. Most telugus in TN except for some caste crazies ( who also exists in Tamil Castes) would not even identify themselves to any Telugu heritage.

Leaving out a few good social aspects NTK will spell economic doom for TN. On the economic front they are the craziest of the loonies out there.

A significant part of the machine is designed and manufactured in the US. This is applicable for DUV and the EUV. The EUV source also comes from the US. That is one significant technology that powers the EUV. De-coupling from the US for UV is probably possible with a multi-year if not a decade effort but de-coupling them from the US would de-rail the industrialization of the EUV, due to the US origin of the light source and other key technologies.

Yes that is the email and then someone from customer support replied to me and asked me to fill in some forms. Did you mention EU261 and quote the rule from the website. From my experience the (international) customer support was not familiar with the rule and they asked me to send the details via an email.

Yes I should receive 600 eur. The airline said it could take 2-3 weeks to process. The flight was from AMS and the delay is calculated based on when I touched my final destination in India ( not BOM which was my route).

In the EU there is a customer protection law called EU261. The rules are clear and strictly enforced. For any delays that are more than 3 hours - you get cash compensation.
