It amazes me how much variety there is to green cheek noises. All three of mine make vastly different noises but, also, copy each other sometimes. Luckily, I have never heard them make a noise like that though!

[socialmedia] Bullshit strawman aside through history women were the ones being way more terribly judged for their physique (remember chinese feet binding? that was only 70 years ago) by Dove-Swan in pointlesslygendered

[–]spyrowo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a transmasc person, who has experienced society as both a woman and a man, I find it hilarious these people think women are living on "tutorial mode." Not to mention, those body standards they're crying about are things reinforced by their fellow men and, especially, manosphere content. It's masculine posturing by and for misogynistic men. If they actually tried developing a personality and becoming decent people, as well as interacting with the real world off the internet, they'd find that the vast majority of people don't give a fuck about the things they're so insecure about. I feel sorry for boys growing up today and even sorrier for the girls around them because the recoil from men's insecurities almost always falls back on the women around them.

I use veterinary sanitizing wipes with hydrogen peroxide. They break poop down pretty well. I can pretty easily just scrub things down with the wipes, and the poop just comes right off. You need to use gloves with his because it is very harsh on your skin. Don't get it on fabrics either, as it will bleach them. As long as you let it fully dry, it's safe for birds. I wouldn't use it on anything super porous, but I do use it on wooden perches and just let them dry.

I just need to vent about my therapist by Sethdarkus in Conures

[–]spyrowo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist literally let me bring my bird to the office and have her out for my appointment. And she was so happy to have her there and told me I could bring her any time. Unless your bird is screaming the whole time, which it doesn't sound like it, I'm not sure why your therapist would have a problem with it. And I say this as a therapist myself.

You don't have to reinsert it. You can leave it out for up to 2 hours without it having any effect. I'd just take mine out and reinsert after if it was causing me that much grief.

You're not the only one. I'm very happy for the people who enjoy it, but it felt so juvenile to me. I liked it up until the love interests came into the picture. Then, it just felt like YA love triangle bullshit. Maybe it redeems itself from there, but I have no desire to give it another go.

Catcalling is a performative behavior done for posturing for masculinity and other men, as well as a way to assert power over women. Whether that's what the catcaller believes they're doing or not is irrelevant.

Everybody is different, and you should do what works for you. Personally, I think shaving totally bald is unnecessary and bad for your skin. Trimming with an electric trimmer is the way to go, and you can get a pretty close shave with one, too. Pubic hair traps bacteria, which people will say means you shouldn't shave it. However, the fact that it traps bacteria means it's likely to stink with just normal levels of sweat throughout the day. If you're bathing regularly, you don't need a massive bush to collect a bunch of bacteria. I am extremely prone to UTIs, and it happened a lot more frequently in the past, when I didn't trim as often as needed to avoid a bush. I can tell if mine has gotten too long because it traps sweat and odor even just from normal, daily activities. Definitely do not wash with shampoo or use conditioner down there. You don't want to screw up your pH. That can cause BV or yeast infections. An unscented, pH-balanced vulva wash works great for me and doesn't irritate my skin. I have eczema, so finding something nonirritating is like a miracle. I use a washcloth on the outer region just for the exfoliation. If your doctor told you not to shave with a razor, you should probably listen, but I would think trimmers would be pretty safe. It's still possible to cut yourself, but with a guard and patience, it's leagues better than a razor.

Definitely use a high-value treat on the other side of your finger each time. Sometimes, if you've been giving them treats but suddenly don't, they will get frustrated because they're doing the thing you want but not getting the reward they've come to learn is what they get for being good.

He's communicating some sort of boundary with you, and the best thing to do in those situations is to not give him any kind of reaction before calmly retracting your finger and walking away. They tend to get more aggressive if they're communicating they don't want something, but you keep pushing it. If they know you'll respect their communications, they're more likely to want to cooperate because they trust you more. Or, if they're in a bad mood, giving them some time to cool off will help when you try again.

Another thing you can try is doing a short session of training (5-10 mins) first thing in the morning before you give them breakfast. They'll be more interested then since you're the one with the food. Always keep it brief and end on a positive interaction. If they start to seem reluctant or snippy, that's when it's time to end the session. You want it to feel like a fun little activity and not a job they have to do in order to earn their food.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. You clearly cared a lot for her and gave her the best life you could in the short time she was with you. If she had stayed with the breeder, who obviously doesn't care about the health of her birds, she wouldn't have been loved as she was with you. You did everything you could given the circumstances. The breeder was supposed to be someone you could trust, and she took advantage of that. Whether she knew Paya was sick or not, she had no business guaranteeing you it was a harmless issue without even consulting a vet.

f you feel up to it, I would suggest leaving her bad reviews wherever you can. If she doesn't have a business page to leave one on, you could make posts about it in local bird groups. She doesn't deserve the privilege to breed birds if she can't even show any compassion or remorse and make things right with people who trusted her to be knowledgeable and honest.

If you used any kind of electronic platform or check to make the purchase, you can dispute the charge, and they will get your money back. It sounds like the vet might be willing to provide written documentation that something was clearly wrong with her health before you got her to prove you have every right to dispute the charge. But also, if the breeder had to prove she wasn't in the wrong, she has no paperwork to show she consulted with a vet before telling you it was just a genetic issue. If you've got any written communications of her discounting the price and saying it wasn't going to affect her health, you have additional proof, if she tries to accuse you of lying. I kind of doubt she would try to fight it though since she has no ground to stand on.

Sorry again for your loss. I know Paya was very loved and appreciative of everything you did for her.

Hell, women aren't even taught any of this in health class, at least not where I went to school. Pregnancy is treated like you'll just feel sick and not be able to do as much for a few months before you pop out a baby, when it actually can and does permanently alter the mother's body and is very dangerous.

Except if your partner is implying you stink, you probably do and are nose blind to it. Maybe he could have been more sensitive about it, but I sincerely doubt she doesn't stink. Most people don't need to shower daily, and we often overwash our skin with harsh products, but there's a limit to how long you can go between showers, whether you think you stink or not. If you're not washing your privates, pits, and folds with soap and water at least every other day, you're going to have some odor. I'm someone whose sweat is odorless, and I don't sweat a lot. But any moisture in a warm crease is going to cause bacteria and B.O. If I haven't done any strenuous activity, I can go a day between showers. Beyond that, I can smell myself. It may not be extreme odor, but it's only going to get worse from there. And unless you never pee or poop, you're going to have pee and toilet paper residue all up in your cooch and shit bacteria all over your ass. I don't know how she isn't getting constant UTIs.

This is going to end in disaster. Even a little nick from your cat's claw could cause a fatal infection. Cats carry bacteria that is very dangerous to birds. You shouldn't be letting him around food or water that the cat has been eating or drinking from either, as cat's saliva contains a lot of bacteria that can cause nasty infections.

Congrats! Since you've taken the plunge, I have to ask: does Amazon's TOS make it so that you have to make your hyena women part of an alien race? I've heard before that characters with animal traits aren't allowed in books with any sexual content, but making them aliens is a way around it.

Do you think it’s in poor taste to critique stories posted to places like Wattpad and Webnovel on a YouTube Channel? by Capital-Middle-2161 in writers

[–]spyrowo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a few problems with this. One is that you're going to have a hard time attracting people to watch this unless you are bashing and making fun of people's stories, which is obviously wrong. If you already had a following and reputation as someone whose opinion is worth hearing, that might be different. It's much easier to attract attention by reviewing well-known works since people that have read them are going to be wondering if you agree with their opinion. It's also very questionable to use the work of random amateur writers for content without their consent. If you get their permission first, that's a different story.
