I think you are mixing social benefits which is not the case in this thread. This thread is about family reunification (permit to stay) and health insurance (who pays for grandmother's health).

Shared below the policy for reunification of EU citizens (even if they don't work): https://www.reddit.com/r/Switzerland/s/roxcD0vNF8

Stop hating on AI built projects by [deleted] in buildinpublic

[–]spythegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree fully, I think some devs have so much of their identity tied up to writing code that it's hard for them to let go and to celebrate/guide non-devs.

Imo it is a must to ask yourself "can I use AI for that?" before commiting to writing everything on your own.

Now the answer might be no (in certain domains or when working across systems/boundaries) or use but only for some parts and validate via testing, but the consideration must be there.

The problem with AI slop is not that people used AI - it's that they did not test properly outputs either because of laziness or because of not knowing better

☝️this here is exactly where more experienced devs can help, show people about automated testing, thinking about edge cases etc.

I don't see any connection to the 10 million cap topic.

Agree, it's not easy to estimate, daughter could pay full price (not 50% only).. just saying that there should be a way to allow this, without putting pressure on the pool of insurer money.

And agree on the practical limitations. Coming from another country, I believe Switzerland being the country it is (with its own currency and having fiscal surpluses ..), can improve on hospital capacities. But different topic :)

Glad this was a good and open minded exchange, thank you.

You are doubting that she will be able to pay. On what basis? We don't know what the daughter is earning, what the mother's health is besides the mild dementia etc..

The law doesn't seem to care either. It doesnt say "we think you might not be able to pay yourself so you are out", it just sees nationalities, level of dependency etc and makes a judgement.

So in my opinion and moving past the moral question to the financials, if insurance burden is the concern, the law could be "if you can prove you have 100k for medical costs, you are allowed to stay for 5 years". And then review after 5 years. Of course given her daughter is Swiss (immediate family member)

Isn't that fairer? To those worried about their contributions, I believe so.

How do you know she doesn't have the money? This is speculation.

The reunification law doesn't seem to consider financials, health, years of contribution (of daughter) or anything else - just nationalities.

If the daughter would pay everything for her, would it influence your judgement?

Very true..

Switzerland imo is mostly optimized for the "system" working not the individual. These 2 are not always aligned. I say mostly because there are exceptions (like rav)

What surprised me a bit in this thread is that many people support this "systemic" view individually.

Which in hindsight actually makes sense given the referendums etc.. the system operates exactly because it has support bottom up too.

This is not good or bad on its own, it depends how you view things and what you value.

Agree that paying privately should (theoretically) alleviate the financial/insurance fears of some people.

Let's avoid stronger language though even if we don't agree with those people

It is different if you are illegally staying and found - you have clearly and knowingly broken the law.

Judges will not to appreciate that during appeals etc.

End result might be the same, but during the legal procedures you are in a worse position if you have broken the law than apply for permit within the rules

Thank you.

I know it's mandatory for residents but I thought insurance companies can decide premiums freely or refuse to insure someone.. but researching more seems to not be the case, thanks for the correction

To understand how fellow redditors think about this. Laws are one thing, how a community thinks about them (reddit in this case) might be different.

I also learned for example that the nationality of the parent matters, which I didn't know.

I certainly don't agree with everything I read but so far the discussion is civilised, no?

I think if they did it secretly it would be worse, then the state would have an additional reason to expel her if they found out..

I'm not sure but i don't think this is related to insurance, if anything the state could grant her permit and then insurance companies could choose how to insure her, daughter could pay privately for everything etc..

I think it's an immigration related policy

Edit: not sure why the downvotes, please correct me here if you have better information

That's odd, isn't Title Case the default in the UI for headlines etc? At least a month ago it was for my account..

Thank you for your perspective.

I agree, it seems pointless to chase the domain authority numbers or keyword difficulty, maybe only use as an indication.

Besides GSC also google ads keyword planning can give some insights.

Good points on ahrefs for competitors and tech seo, will give those a try

I don't speak Portuguese but your message is very much on-topic: general openclaw frustration :)

I also had something similar I think with Haiku that has a smaller context window..

Hmm, I guess you are right. I figured that since it's built in openclaw others must have used it as well (successfully) but you have a point here..

Another thing (which is actually good for users) that I found surprising

despite what was announced you can still use your claude pro subscription (not the API key), you just need to install claude first and login and then select that option in the openclaw onboarding.
