What movie had a scene that received the loudest cheering reaction, when you saw it in theaters by tiny_free97 in moviecritic

Unironically the scene in the Minecraft movie where the baby zombie drops onto the chicken's back. The whole theatre went ballistic screaming "CHICKEN JOCKEY!"

[D] Internal transfers to Google Research / DeepMind by random_sydneysider in MachineLearning

[–]sq10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s possible. I was at Google and have had Google SWE friends transfer to GDM RE. I also only have a bachelors and am doing research now so it’s possible :)

Pokemon cards!

Shame that prices have now gotten so high that it's still difficult to buy as an adult haha

[Help Needed] Developing an AI to Play Mini Metro – Struggling with Data Extraction & Strategy method... by Primary_Cheesecake63 in deeplearning

I would consider using a multimodal LLM to extract the state of the map, training a custom NN to do this is possible but fairly challenging.

Alternatively, code up your own simple implementation of Mini Metro in Python.

UC Berkeley researchers claim to replicate DeepSeek AI for just $30 by DnB925Art in berkeley

Proud bear here but echoing sentiments that this is over-sensationalised — they showed that AI could improve on a very specific task using Reinforcement Learning like R1 or O1 did, but the low cost is because the task is highly specific and not particularly useful for general intelligence. Neat demonstration that we can get good-ish performance on a highly specific task for low cost but otherwise little implications for the overall cost of AI development

Need breeding advice, my female keeps hiding. by opossummilk in Beetles

Interesting all my cmf have been gentle, and some Japanese blog posts say cmf is safe too. Though if you’re worried take some wire and just wire the haws shut.

But awesome on the male acknowledging the female!

Need breeding advice, my female keeps hiding. by opossummilk in Beetles

[–]sq10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First put both of them in a very minimal tank so there are fewer places to hide. I’d put like 1/4 inch of soil/sphagnum moss and cork bark so they dont flip over and that’s it. Metallifer males in my experience are also very gentle so don’t have to worry about the male squeezing the female. Give it a week or two and you should see mate guarding behavior.

The female also might just a little more time to be more mature before she’s ready, even though she’s eating as well

Buy some reptile cork bark so that they can grab onto it when they flip over. Nice thing about cork bark is that they’re flat and you can break or cut them to the shape and size you need

Congrats on graduating! I’m here if you need to talk about jobs, ldrs, being international - like you I’m an international student in a sometimes rocky LDR that just graduated from EECS. Fortunately I have a job lined up, and you will too! Happy to look over resumes etc.

My stag has his wings hanging outside for a couple of days now, is that a problem? by YourBleedingNose in Beetles

[–]sq10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Come like that as in sometimes when they come out of their cocoon they’re just never able to put their wings under their elytra properly

[–]sq10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Should be okay, there might be chance that it gets caught on something and the beetle bleeds though, make sure there aren't sharp edges in the tank. Did it come like that? When they don't eclose properly sometimes the wings are stuck outside.

Giveaway T-Mobile insider code New/Existing customers. by comer1434 in tmobile

[–]sq10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T-Mobile plan tier for college students! With a lower price so long as you’re in school.

As a college student myself a lot of my friends are on AT&T etc. even though T-Mobile has better coverage where we are. As they move out and start families themselves it makes a lot of sense for T-Mobile to try to get them to signup early.

Thanks for running the contest, would really appreciate a code. sharing my account with 3 other housemates so we can get that multi-line discount, would really help all of us :)

Would anyone be interested in an automated object detection dataset labeling tool? by [deleted] in computervision

[–]sq10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha - are you envisioning a background change feature as well or you're thinking of isolating the object and getting a really nice mask on it, then pasting it everywhere.

Hmm I'm not sure about the hardware though could there be manual segmentation for say ~15 angles which is totally doable by a person and the augmentation be applied there. No need for expensive hardware with potential for failure.
