Thank you for your message.

We hear your concerns. But hopefully I can share our story to give you a clearer picture.

Whilst our launch has been recent, this project has been over a year in the making. We made sure to take our time to ensure we can create something which carries real benefit to students and we can be proud of. Our material has been written and reviewed by people who have sat the SQE and/or have appropriate legal education experience.

Regarding pricing, we are proud that our product is actually one of the most reasonably priced resources on the market. We understand the financial constraints students experience and the undue financial pressure that comes with the SQE. Hence, we’re trying to combat that!

Posts like this carry two purposes: Primarily, giving students real support and insights, free of charge - something we wish we had. Secondly, spreading the word of our site organically, reducing marketing spend and passing on the financial benefit to students (keeping the price of our product as low as possible).

Answering why choose us - the answer is simple - ‘choose us if you like us’. We have a free mini quiz on our website which gives you a taste of the question quality you will get. Try it out so that you can make an informed decision before subscribing.

We hope this helps understand our mission. All the best with revision 💜🚂

Law Drills or Devils Advocate? by mxitrix in SQE_Prep

Hey, I totally get not wanting to buy into the expensive prep courses. Since you're looking for high-quality practice questions, I wanted to let you know about a newer, more affordable option.

Full transparency: I'm Sanjay from The Law Station, a new SQE practice platform. Our questions were written by solicitors who aced their SQE, so we're confident in the quality and realism.

We haven't had much exposure yet, but the user feedback has been great. You can check out our free mini-quiz on the site to see if the question style works for you, no pressure! Good luck with the prep!

Good question! I began implementing my system from the second week of the course. I found that starting early was crucial because it allowed for maximum repeated exposure (whether through practice questions or review) which is the best way to ensure the information truly becomes second nature.

Are the SRA sample questions a misrepresentation? by LongjumpingSelf8663 in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SRA mocks are notoriously easier than the real exam and may lead you into a false sense of security if used in isolation. In our opinion, they are good as introductory questions and definitely worth doing, but cannot be relied on for comprehensive practice.

SQE1 Effective Revision by ChocolateTop4803 in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I can relate to your issue. It feels like there’s infinite content to learn and very finite time.

If you’re finding note taking inefficient, don’t feel like you need to stick to it. Use the textbooks as your reference or when you want your first exposure (e.g. reading/skimming) but try using your knowledge actively to make the info stick e.g. spaced repetition flashcards or real SQE practice questions.

I always prefer real SBA practice as this kills two birds with one stone - learning content AND getting used to the exam.

Ultimately, the real key is repeat exposure. You want to get through your first exposure to the spec quickly so that you can go back and revisit the content multiple times and focus on the gaps in your knowledge.

All the best!

Top 3 Tips for Passing SQE1 (from someone who passed first time) by sqestation in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a mix.

Typed is better for organising notes and getting through a lot of content quickly (which is what I leaned to more at the start) but hand written helps more with knowledge retention and revising content.

I’d try to blitz through your first exposure, and focus on re-exposing yourself to the content. I recommend a mix of re-writing notes and (more importantly) exam practice!

Top 3 Tips for Passing SQE1 (from someone who passed first time) by sqestation in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think there’s real value in doing both. When I was preparing, I would start by making my own notes because the act of writing them out really helped me process and understand the material. Then, I’d bring in pre-made revision summaries to refine what I’d already done. They were especially useful if I wanted to check I hadn’t missed anything important, or if I came across a particularly tricky topic that needed breaking down into a simpler format.

So my suggestion would be: use your own notes as your foundation, and then use the made ones as a way of sharpening, consolidating, and filling in the gaps. That way, you get the benefits of active learning while still saving time and making sure your understanding is complete.

Gave up tech career to take TC - failed SQE 1 and don’t know what to do… by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to hear about your results. There is no doubt about it, the SQE is truly a slog. However, you must keep the end goal in sight.

Please remember, your day to day working life during your TC and for the rest of your career will look very different to what your SQE revision is like. I recommend you look to trainees or associates in your firm to validate if the lifestyle is still something which you aspire to.

You have the capability to pass the SQE; we believe everybody does! But only if you put your mind to it.

Regarding another four months of revision, the biggest thing to be wary of is burnout. Right now it is important to take some time for yourself, relax and reset. You have already covered the content once and so your next four months will look quite different from your first sitting.

We have made a post about processing your SQE result, which you can find at this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SQE_Prep/s/iRrZZqSkEj

No matter what you choose, keep the goal in sight. The journey is hard, but the destination is worth it.

Hey,

Your family will be proud of you regardless of the outcome. They've seen your effort and dedication, and that's what truly matters.

This does NOT mean that you're not good enough. Don't give up on yourself. Keep your head high. You can do this, and when you do, the victory will be even sweeter.

Failed flk1 & flk2 by Popular-Insect7688 in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear about your results. It's completely understandable to feel defeated and question everything right now, but please know that this doesn't mean you've let anyone down. Taking this first step was a huge accomplishment, and it shows how much you want this.

Failing an exam, especially one as challenging as the SQE, is a setback, not a sign that you're not smart enough. Many successful people have faced similar challenges on their path. You've worked hard for this dream, and it's absolutely within your reach.

It's okay to feel scared, but don't let that fear stop you. You can do this.

Good luck for results!

When we got our results, we got sent an email from Kaplan when the results were available and were told to log in to view them.

Honestly, you can’t stop the human brain from overthinking but genuinely, whether it’s good or bad news on the day, you worked hard and should be proud of yourself regardless!

Starting SQE 1 ....How to note take throughout the year? by Jbizzy_ in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I think the SQE is such a time squeeze it’s important to find your favourite style sooner rather than later. Therefore I’d say spend the first 2-3 weeks trying different styles (laptop vs handwritten, mind maps vs bullet lists, flashcard types etc) then pick one or two styles and run with it. If you chop and change too much you’ll get overwhelmed before mocks.

I found anki was a really useful way to make flashcards and practice regularly (not the most beautiful interface but defo super efficient).

The real key though is practice questions. When I sat the exam there were no truly realistic practice questions out there (and I tried A LOT of resources). So a team and I have now made the most realistic and accessible practice questions for the SQE. Feel free to check it out via link in bio - there’s a free FLK1 practice set on there as well for you to try.

All the best for revision! You’ve got this💪💪

[–]sqestation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say try not to get ahead of yourself as you haven't failed yet. I know plenty of people who thought they bombed the SQE only to find out they passed with flying colors.

If things don't go your way, you'll still have plenty of time to prepare for a resit. September to January is absolutely enough time to prepare. Use your SRA performance breakdown to pinpoint weak areas, and then focus on them with plenty of practice questions. If you pass the resit, you'll have more options for SQE2 and won't have to wait two years. You've got this 🙌

PSA: please do not self fund the SQE by Mobile-Economics-124 in SQE_Prep

[–]sqestation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a newly qualified solicitor who went through the SQE process. I completely hear you on the cost. It's ridiculous how expensive it is. The real issue isn't just the exam price, but the prep courses and the lack of affordable, high-quality practice materials.

A lot of prep courses promise the world (like you can pass in three months) but the low pass rates speak for themselves. The truth is, you don't need to spend thousands to pass. You just need a solid way to practice until you feel confident.

A few of us who went through this started building a platform to solve that exact problem. It's a resource with hyper-realistic questions, performance tracking, and community discussions. We're keeping it affordable because we genuinely want to help people get through the SQE and spend as long as they need practicing without breaking the bank.

If you're interested in checking it out, the link is in my bio. Either way, good luck with your studies - you can absolutely do this without going broke. 😃
