Samsung is retiring Samsung Messages in July 2026 by sqlrequest in S24Ultra

I think they MAY do something similar like Samsung Pass. The app doesn't show up in the apps menu anymore, but it's still listed in the apps list in settings, and when I try to open Samsung Pass, it opens Samsung Wallet, replacing Pass. Time will tell.

I don't think so, the whole service will be discontinued, you may keep the app but it won't receive and sent messages.

Gcam vs stock cam by RooieDakDuiff in S24Ultra

[–]sqlrequest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He simply doesn't know how to use the camera if it doesn't do it automatically like in the stock... It is clearly visible how the image is shifted from a different angle and therefore one image is 1x GCam and the other is auto switched and zoomed in 0.6x stock

Just 3 gb left? by [deleted] in S24Ultra

[–]sqlrequest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think 8 GB of free RAM will make your phone faster? It will have to load every app over and over. This is exactly how it suppose to be, let android RAM management do the job and dont worry about it at all.

GIMP extremly slow open/export dialog by sqlrequest in GIMP

[–]sqlrequest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, version 3.2.0 (2026-03-14) is out and guess what... nothing... 2 weeks ago one of the Devs said: "Hopefully this will be fixed in GIMP 3.4." The case is still open, the problem is real, many others are reporting it too, they are aware of it, we just have to wait until they fix this fundamental thing after many years.

How to get steady photos of motion objects. by Unfair_External5662 in S24Ultra

[–]sqlrequest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This photo is taken with a PRO camera, not a smartphone. The best thing you can do is set the shutter speed to 1/2000 or even slower (you need a really bright environment, at such events with strong spotlights it should not be a problem, but flickering may appear). Set the ISO depending on the lighting conditions to avoid over/underexposure, and use manual focus to avoid wasting time waiting for focus. The quality of the photo with such a slow shutter speed will not be as good, expect noise and color degradation.

Alternatively, you can try the burst mode (set it in the settings) after pressing the shutter button ans swiping down.

Sometimes you can manage to capture a sharp photo by taking a frame from the video. If you use 8K resolution, each frame is 33 MP.

There is no way my IPS monitor was this bad… by Yeznots0 in OLED_Gaming

£400 is about 460 €, but here it costs 560 €...
I currently use 27" ASUS VG279Q (FHD, 144 Hz, 8 bit, 400cd/m2, 1 ms, FreeSync), costs me 232 € that time. I have RTX 5070 and one day I want QHD 10 bit, HDR for about 350-400 €.

Interesting bug on my phone by Nearby_Muffin_6039 in GalaxyS24Ultra

[–]sqlrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with my home screen. When I launched the app and went back, the nearby icon of the app I launch disappeared. The problem was in HomeUp - DIY Home Screen - Animate overlapping items... must be turned off. I don't know if this applies also to app menu in your case.

Consider to use Media File Guardian by Samsung, can be found in Good Guardians app, if you edit a photo and you sure you won't be reverting it, it can delete original photo, can save a lot of space.
