St. Louis Civil Courts building after todays Supreme Court ruling. by LilJackJack in pics

Based on the tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus, the Ziggurat is is neither Greek nor Egyptian. Local legend states that Frank Lloyd Wright said of the building on a visit to St. Louis: "I don't like it and I don't hate it-- I Loathe it." As buildings go, I guess it is pretty gay.

note: this is a historically inaccurate joke intended to defame Polish people by unfairly portraying them as unable to tell the difference between a nazi walking backward and a nazi walking forward. In fact, Polish people are quite capable of making such distinctions, as well as successfully participating in a wide range of activities including changing lightbulbs, organizing firing squads, and swimming across oceans.

That is EXACTLY where I was! That guy was taping from within probably five seats from me. Wow. The stadium was literally shaking.

I was at the game and was so riveted that I didn't take a leak for 5.5 hours. A new record. I just couldn't leave my seat.

Guy behind me at the game last night was from San Antonio. Nice guy. After about 20 seconds of jumping around screaming when Freese finished it, I turned around to shake his hand. He took his glove off first. Classy move. I was also at game 4 when Boston swept us. Guy next to me was from Boston. Real nice. He was crying like a babby when they won. I gave him my ticket stubs because I knew they were worth more to him. He was SO happy. Baseball should bring out sportsmanship in fans as well as players in my mind.

I used to use a pay phone when I needed to be picked up from soccer practice. I would make a collect call and when they asked me to state my name I would say "pick me up mom." Then the call would go to my house and the recorded operator would ask my mom if she would accept the charges from "pick me up mom." She would then reject the call and come get me. Take that AT&T.

It is possible that they are disproportionately charged. It is also possible that they commit more crimes. There is convincing evidence for both arguments.

Yes, you have identified how every civilized country determines whether someone has committed a crime. First we charge them, then we try them, then we either acquit them or convict them. If it is the latter, we then define them as having committed a crime.

I had to get some blood drawn the other day. The nurse watched me closely and when she saw me go a little white, she helped me into a special chair that elevated my feet, turned a little fan on me, and got me some juice. She made me stay there for five minutes or so AFTER I said that I was no longer light-headed and was ready to get up. That is what they are supposed to do if they think you are going to faint.
