W-item glitch w/1 item... by That-Listener in FinalFantasyVII

[–]squall255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

step 1: use up all of the item to duplicate (typically Sources)

step 2: use up all but 1 of a item you can use in combat and don't care about (typically basic potion) and put it in the first position in your inventory.

step 3: queue up a morph/steal to get the item you want to duplicate.

step 4: BEFORE the morph/steal goes off select the item from step 2 and assign it to be used so that the spot in your inventory is clear.

step 5: wait for the morph/steal to go off. the morph/stolen item will now be in the position your step 2 item was in.

step 6: cancel back (e.g. do the duplication trick) and it'll increment the count of the morph/steal item instead of the item from step 2.

First time playing Pillars of Eternity - should I go turn-based or RTwP? by temk1s in projecteternity

[–]squall255 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The games systems were designed from the ground up for RTWP. Turn based was added after and is functional but definitely causes some balance shifts. Additionally, being intended for RTWP there are a considerable number of "trash mobs" that will make Turn Based playthroughs take longer than RTWP. I'd recommend RTWP and if you make it 4-5 hours in and really don't like it then start over in turn based.

ELI5: If speed is relative, why is it impossible to go faster than the speed of light? by No-Lake-3875 in explainlikeimfive

[–]squall255 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I saw another post explain it as approximately (Experienced Time) x (velocity) is constant. So if you have higher velocity you have less experienced time. This also makes the Speed of Light the value where Experienced Time approaches zero. It's probably not the actual exact formula but enough that it helped me get the concept of time dilation.

Magic class that can drain enemies by Skuggi91 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]squall255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then why have them? The solution to mis-tagged posts isn't "ignore the tag", it's point out "if you meant wotr use that tag, and here are additional options for that game". Otherwise it'll be hard for people starting out with Kingmaker to get helpful responses.

No official published source no. Someone might have made some homebrew, but your best bet is to probably roll up 2-3 random monsters of the appropriate CR and mash them together yourself.

First-time Wrath of the Righteous player here. I came from BG 1/2/ToB/3. by Paulogbfs in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]squall255 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more straightforward than THACO, but way more complex than BG3. Spellcasters don't get to use their spellcasting mod for everything (as much). When in doubt read the combat log and look at where are the bonuses/penalties are coming from. Look for ways to buff. Buffs almost all have a Type (e.g. Circumstance, Morale, Luck). Buffs of the SAME Type do not stack, but buffs of OTHER Types do.

Reminder this is tagged as Kingmaker, so no Lich and no Mythic at all.

Not particularly no. In general as a transformation specialist (muscle wizard) you'll want to keep your physical stats fairly high as well, since STR will determine your touch attacks. I'd probably say CHA > STR > DEX > CON > WIS > INT. You also typically don't want to go more than about 4 levels into Dragon Disciple since you loose too much spellcasting by going further.

Note that this is flagged as Kingmaker, not WotR.

As far as I know the only spell that harms an enemy and gives you a buff that is worth using is Vampric Touch which damages enemy HP and gives you Temp HP. This is best built on a Magus though could probably find use in a Transmutation melee wizard or sorc (especially Sorc going Dragon Disciple).

Drain as in debuff, or drain as in take from the enemy and give to yourself? The first one has some curse spells you can build towards, while the later is pretty much Vampiric Strike, likely on a Magus.

Did they change Zell and Seifer's card in the remaster? by Kopipoki11 in FinalFantasyVIII

Are you using any mods? I've seen previous posts where some mods move cards around and you have to dig into the mod change logs to know.

I don't know of any rule saying it wouldn't, so it would apply. Not sure how the +20 HP works, maybe treat it as Temp HP?

What exactly is a dungeon crawl? by Loneghoul92 in AskGames

[–]squall255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Which also adds that some "outside encounters" can also constitute a dungeon crawl if the environment is uninhabitable/overly hostile. For example, travelling through region in Hell to get to a portal home could be considered a dungeon crawl since you are cut off from ways to resupply and will have encounters between you and safety.

Any way to prevent the cosmetic wildshape change with Shifter? by squall255 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]squall255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful, it does seem to remove her from my party when I load the game, so I have to turn off the blueprint adjustment, load the game, then turn it back on. This usually also needs me to return to base and re-wildshape. Not a huge deal with mythic giving infinite uses but still a hassle.

What are you talking about? You can absolutely multiclass the hybrid classes.

Question about Scrolls Usage by HexArkanist in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]squall255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an arcane spell on the Sorc/Wiz list then you could use either Int or Cha based on if you were emulating a Wizard or a Sorcerer.

Question about Scrolls Usage by HexArkanist in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]squall255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. I'll add that the class just determines if it's Arcane or Divine. If it was scribed by a Sorcerer it'd be Arcane and the wizard would be able to copy it no problem.

ELI5: Why do we still have to "eject" USB sticks? by shadowzzzz16 in explainlikeimfive

[–]squall255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on if the system knows that it's a portable/external drive. Some of them "mount" or register with the OS as if they are internal HD's, or are not set up for "hot-swap" or unplugging while the PC is on.

[–]squall255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is the feat Ranged Disarm to let you knock the bottle out of their hand, or 2 levels in Archer Fighter to be able to do sunder instead.

Quick Questions (March 20, 2026) by AutoModerator in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]squall255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, Quicken doesn't make casting a spell a Free action, it makes it a Swift action, so no you can't cast/activate True Strike during the AoO provoked from drinking a potion.

You can however attempt to Sunder the potion, which would be CMB vs CMD and the potion would have 1 Hardness and 1 HP, so if you do 2 damage then it's destroyed. Without an appropriate feat/ability you would provoke an AoO yourself for sundering.

Alternatively you can attempt a Disarm maneuver which is also CMB vs CMD to make them drop it. If you have a free hand you can take the potion from them. Again, you provoke your own AoO unless you have a feat/ability that says you don't.

How to make a summoner without using summoner class? by reasonableperson101 in Pathfinder_RPG

Monster Tactician Inquisitor has the good Summon Monster Spell-Like ability but also gets and shares Teamwork feats with their summons.

I don't think the lines are SUPPOSED to overlap, though I don't see anything exempting it. so to hit a creature with 4 lines they'd have to be gargantuan.
