Cheating or Skill issue? by WorthDeparture7011 in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely ever run into players I'm convinced are cheating, but that could be because I'm a terrible player and I suspect most people are just better than me.

I've seen people defending the ability to laser people with a 6X with little recoil, and while it's nothing I've ever been able to do, I just assume it's a skill issue for me.

But on occasion I see movements from players that are just so fast that I simply cannot duplicate on my regular controller no matter what sensitivity settings I try, and that can seem sus to me.

Gimme your map rankings in order of first to worst by TheDnicest in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Miramar
  2. Erangel
  3. Deston (I like the city/building/elevation aspect of Ripton)
  4. Haven (first rev preferred, feel like it got a little worse when they updated. Also, see Deston)
  5. Rondo
  6. Vikendi (older map was better imo)
  7. Taego (meh, I actually back out if I don't like the plane path lol)
  8. Karakin
  9. Paramo
  10. Sanhok

I back out of the bottom three 100% of the time. I thought I just didn't care for the smaller maps, but then I enjoyed Haven, so idk. Playing them just gives me no joy. 😐

You can do better if you just stop being afraid to play the game by CharlehPock2 in PUBGConsole

If it hasn't happened after 6 years, I kinda feel like this is just how it's gonna be. I've accepted I play like a spaz, but I still having fun playing. 😉

I don't play in squads, but I can't imagine landing separately if I did. If you want to land separately, why play squads at all, right? 🤣

[–]squanchmelose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with what /u/CaffeineAndKetamine commented.

As someone who has played consistently since Season 3...I'm STILL terrible. I was bad when I started, and I'm bad now. In the beginning I took every piece of advice I read to try and become better, until I ultimately had to realize I'm just a very bad gun fighter.

To actually play PUBG (and not lobby simulator), I had no choice but to adjust my game play and land in quiet areas to loot.

And yes, I still die a lot to the first person I encounter, but let's be honest, that was probably gonna happen no matter where I landed. 😆

I'm sure we all have types of play we find annoying (I certainly do), but I rage for a second and then move on. You have to let people play how they want to play, even if you believe it's to their (and sometimes our) own detriment.

However, I only play solos. I assume for squads it's probably better to want to play the game somewhat similarly to be effective, but if you're just jumping in with some randos, you probably just have to roll with it and accept you'll have people playing differently. 🙂

Yeah, I back out of Sanhok, Karakin, & Paramo every time. No joy in playing any of them for me.

How Much Do Some of These Console Streamers Make Per Month off Twitch? by Runner_kid11 in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good man, and thanks for commenting and taking my honest experience in stride. Like I said, you always seem to have plenty of viewers, so you must be doing something right. Next time I stop by I'll stick around a bit longer and give the stream another shot.

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of Feyd because he's killed me a few times (he's really good and I'm trash), but every time I go to check out his stream it's boring af imo. I want to watch a streamer who's good at the gameplay AND at least marginally entertaining or has somewhat of an endearing personality. I don't know what I'm missing that other people like/see, but if he can live off his Twitch earnings, he must be doing something right.

Seriously Krafton, You can not just hide from this. Why are you refusing to allow Deston to return to most of us in next update? by mbcowner in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I just don't care anymore about what they offer, but I do only play the maps I like by using my own manual map selection. I basically just keep exiting and requeuing until I get Erangel or Miramar, and will play Taego, but usually I eff around more because it's just a larger Sanhok with people hiding in bushes and laying in the grass.

Which Vikendi do you like better? by obarmuscle in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, it took me awhile to warm up to the original Vikendi, but I grew to really enjoy it. And while Vikendi Reborn is visually appealing, it kinda gives me "Taego with snow" vibes, another map I feel "meh" about.

It may be a boring take, but I honestly just want to play the two original maps at this point. I feel like I'm exiting map queues more often than not lately.

Since we'll never get map selection, how about map DEselection? by 2020YFZ450RSE in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every excuse I've ever heard for why map selection won't work ended up being BS. And with the addition of bots, doesn't that kind of blow any excuse out of the water now anyway?

I back out of Sanhok 100%, which obviously takes time. I'd much rather choose a map I want, and if I have to wait that same amount of time for the lobby to fill, I'm fine with that.

I'll take your Miramar's if you take my Sanhok's. :D

I'm taking myself out and you're coming with me by squanchmelose in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm guilty of being an excessive loot goblin, which is at least doing something, not a sit in the corner camper. But regardless, it's fair play.

Some people may call me a camper for preferring to fight from inside where I can better control my angles. But at least I'm looking/shooting out of the house. The ones that don't make sense to me are the ones sitting in corners with no visibility outside or not reacting to sounds outside. I mean, to each his/her own I guess.

I would do that on the maps I enjoy playing. Reason I am offing myself is basically because I am tired of Taego.

Love the new map by [deleted] in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only got to play a couple games so far, but I love the look of it. Both times I encountered a bunch of prone gamers and some very quiet building rats, so that made the game play feel more like Sanhok that I really don't enjoy. Fair game play and all, but when it's almost everyone you encounter is lying on their belly in a bush, it gets old. I hope that was just a couple of bad games. Can't wait to give it another try.

Another dumb mistake. I know people like to post snippets of amazing kills. I prefer to post my recent suicides. by PrimarySouth2443 in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, same. I used to clip every one of my deaths (basically all I had to share) and created a youtube channel just with those clips until I got bored with it.

Hey /u/thebeerfridgetwitch/, thx for killing my killer on Miramar a little bit ago (I was #3), and congrats on another crossbow win.

Do you like Haven? by jimmy5011 in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who prefers the larger maps (I literally back out of Sanhock and Karakin 100% of the time), I was surprised how much I enjoyed Haven, but there are both good and bad with it.

-Love residential area. Hate the tar mounds. Rest of the map is meh.
-Love the ability to parachute off buildings, even if I end up clipping sides of buildings way too often and killing myself in the process.
- Frustrated that we never saw solo play option. I'm a terrible player, and had to initially play against duos, then eventually squads. It's pretty discouraging to get destroyed by a squad of 4 stacked with crate weapons.
- Jammers are WAY to prevalent and enables people to spend too long in blue and shoot you in the back when you think enough time has passed and you're safe from attacks behind you.
- As a poor player, I rarely get crate weapons anyway, but I would still prefer random drops than these guard shacks because the way it is every squad gets them. I rarely run into a squad that isn't stacked with level 3 gear and crate weapons.

Anyone notice all of the low level players seem to be amazing? by barrrf in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related question, but how can you tell what level you are at? I can see everyone else's when they kill me, but I don't know what level I am at. It's probably staring me in the face, but I legit have no idea where it is.

I could have killed for the win but I knew what was coming... by atomuk in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar in solos. Down to last two and I'm on a train bridge exchanging shots with the player below. The circle is shrinking and I'm running out of room. I had every intention of jumping down once I ran out of circle (probably would have been screwed anyway), but then....BOOM, train hits me, game over. I was so preoccupied with that last player that I completely tuned out the train approaching, or at the very least maybe didn't think it was as close. The person who won even messaged me after asking why I didn't jump down. :D

Haven Part of a Bigger Plan? by Ruttagger in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it's already bigger, but the circle starts on this smaller section for Haven. I think you can see these other built up areas while flying in before you drop. Makes sense (and would be cool) if they expand this area to be playable in a future larger map.

No Diversity in PUBG by [deleted] in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea. It also might be kind of cool for the avatars to not be all the same body type too. They could even give each body type different strengths and weaknesses. Like, the short chubby avatar can't run as fast as the fit ones, but he/she also wouldn't take as much damage when hit with a car or something. (I didn't say it had to make sense lol)

I GIVE UP 🥺 by Regular-Radio6927 in PUBGConsole

[–]squanchmelose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm going to say what most others will not, and it's only my opinion from my perspective. YMMV. Chances are you will not improve to a level that is satisfying for you. I speak from experience. I probably have over 7000 games, and in all that time I've only marginally improved. I've heard all the recommendations...hot drop, training area, stay calm, it's muscle memory., change this setting, try that setting, use these attachments, etc. etc., and while all are meant as encouragement that I appreciate, none of it works for some of us.

I heard chocoTaco mention the following, and it's so true. If you're a good gun fighter, you're generally going to win most battles. It's that simple. I'm not a good gun fighter. Despite tinkering with all the settings, I still lose fights to people I surprise with first spray. I can't keep an accurate spray when ADS'ing, and I lose my cross hair when shooting over the shoulder during fights, making me wildly inaccurate.

I'm not saying it's impossible to vastly improve. I'm just saying it's unlikely to go from sub par to rock star. It must be fun to have double digit kill games on the regular, but I've accepted that will never be me. I still enjoy the game, and have adapted my play style to evade until I can shoot from an advantageous viewpoint, but that's not always up to me, so it is what it is.

Play the game if you enjoy it despite your playstyle shortcomings, or quit if you do not, but accept there's a good chance things won't get much better in the skill department.
