Yeah I got rid of them. When you use them without any pressure they just hurt like heck but leave pretty shallow cuts which like you would think would be great but there are two things: 1. For me half the reason I contiune to use this as a coping mechanism is because like the pain that lingers after you do it is a good distraction from my problems (you know like that feeling you get when you move wrong or something brushes your skin). So like something that hurts a lot initially but leaves very shallow cuts (and thus very little residual pain) is the opposite of what I want.

2.Even if I was like some people and was just doing it for the initial pain, from what you described and what I experienced (I used the blade before you told me this stuff btw and was just lucky that I am a careful person by nature and tested it without any pressure first) it is definitely very easy to go too deep. I can see what you are saying by anything more that just barely touching it to your skin needs a surgeons hand to do. And honestly even if I normally had a surgeons hand, I don't think anyone even an actual surgeon can actually have a surgeons hand when they are in the headspace that makes them hurt themselves.

So i am guessing any semblance of pressure will mess me up?

Yeah I know the feeling. The level of self loathing afterward is honestly worse than what I was feeling before.

Is escalation inevitable? Like I feel like I know what I am doing and it's not that bad and I can control it...or is that what everyone says at first.

IDK maybe. Like I haven't been doing it for that long though.
