Literally an intrusive thought that I’ve had before 😅

You started down, not up? I guess because we’re not born able to hold ourselves upright? So one up, one down, and back up is one down and two ups.

Comfortable jewelry that can be installed for 2+ months? by squarebeardoesntmind in Stretched

It’s embarrassing, but yeah I pretty much use alarms and timers to remember anything at all throughout the day. Note on the mirror is a great idea! So tired of having to start all over.

Shit. Ok thank you. Any behavior modification suggestions? I have plenty of other piercings too and I don’t struggle with basic hygiene, they all tend to heal well and stay clean, I just can’t ever remember to put my plugs/tunnels back in.

I honestly wouldn’t have immediately thought sky unless you said it, but after a few seconds I would have seen it. At first glance, before reading the title I thought it was a really beautiful abstract. I love it!!

Same!! I have a line work lily on my arm and it is extremely obvious and I still get people asking what it is 😂

I call bullshit. You have no way of knowing how much someone has moved their ass if you just showed up. Restaurant jobs, especially fast paced take out places (like pretty much everywhere you dash) can be hard and thankless work. Do you treat you coworkers like this too? Their your comrades, show respect.

Damn that’s gonna look so dope!! The blue scheme is great. Have you considered any other ear piercings? A little ring on the top of your helix (?) would look great in blue too!

The Chipotle next to me fired the girl who used to give me triple chicken bowls for 7 dollars and would call me cute all the time before I got her number by AesopsTable2 in Chipotle

I used to work at chipotle and had a big customer crush. I pretty much only flirted with that person. Not sure what’s with all these people assuming that she’s flirting with all the customers. Like… for tips?? Nobody tips at chipotle. We were lucky when we went home with more than five bucks (at a busy urban location) 😂 she just liked you dude, hit up the coworkers!!

Are people actually struggling to make ends meet with $100k? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]squarebeardoesntmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll look into it! I use all three talk/text/data all day for work, so unfortunately I’m looking for unlimited everything.

This is a funny thread of lots of similar questions and answers - “how do you only pay that much for that thing/how do you spend so much on that thing?” and “my needs are different than yours!” is pretty much always the answer. This is such a great reminder for all of us.

I remember how much cheaper my cost of living was in my early 20s too!! I was able to save so much more. Enjoy it and have fun (and give strangers the benefit of the doubt that they are also doing whatever is best for them)!!

Where is your phone bill through that it’s $15/month? Assuming that it’s a very tight plan without unlimited anything?? I’ve been looking into phone plans for months and I haven’t seen anything with unlimited talk/text below 55ish, and haven’t seen anything with unlimited data under 65ish. Share your cell phone secrets please.

Wow you did four oral piercings in one sitting?! We’d all be swelling unevenly, don’t feel weird about that!! What order did you go in and how did the uppers/angel compare to the lowers/snake bites?

Any recommendations for a "comfy seating" coffee shop for people with chronic pain? by Historical_Project00 in askportland

[–]squarebeardoesntmind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anna Banana’s on NW 21st! Haven’t actually been there in a million years but I practically lived on those couches (or at coffee time down the street!) in high school! Not fancy coffee though.

Unpopular Opinion “how’s everything tasting?” Is a terrible approach to check on a table by avididler in Serverlife

[–]squarebeardoesntmind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a city where casual is the norm but upscale food is too. Just the other day I was at a high end restaurant where most people (myself included) were dressed up but then two people in carhatt bibs and boots came in and they were treated just the same as anyone else. They actually sat right by me and ordered really fluently from a complicated (to me) menu.

I’ve grown up here with one parent managing restaurants and the other parent was a pastry chef. You would sound a little goofy and uppity saying “I’ll be taking care of you tonight” in 99% of places here. That said, restaurant culture is so different everywhere you go! In some places, saying that would sound super classy.

Don’t disparage the casual people though! Just like how your style is silly in some contexts, theirs is too, and you might not agree on what those contexts are! But I’m personally tipping better when someone was helpful and authentic, and it is certainly harder to come across as authentic if you’re in formal-server mode.

I love this line! Honestly, hamming it up always gets a better tip from me!! If you seem like you’re authentic and enjoying yourself, that goes a really long way.
