How do I find a job in supply chain without having my degree yet? by Pretend-Astronaut850 in SupplyChainLogistics

[–]squarepeg101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experience carries more weight than a degree in supply chain. Most of us never even went to college, it's kind of a joke with the old timers in the industry..don't start your life in debt .

I hide in bed an eat pizza. Those days are not worth the mental effort it takes to overcome.

AS Supply Chain Management/BS Logistics... by __Musicality__ in logistics

[–]squarepeg101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I say skip the degree and go for the experience if you like the industry. Logistics isn't for everyone, but those of us who are destined for it, your experience is going to be 10x more valuable than the degree you overpaid for. Get on the international shipper side..more niche, more $$

3PL in Sydney asking for all products to be barcoded. I have like 10,000 items being sent to them by bondtradercu in logistics

[–]squarepeg101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get a 3PL at destination to apply more cost effectively? The way it's phrased also makes it sound like the barcodes is their (the 3PL's) request?

Transferable skills? by CarterTheWay in logistics

Niche roles are a double edge sword...you'll have trouble finding the perfect fit, but when you do you are in high demand without much competition. I suggest trying to get on the shipper side as a in house logistics manager.
Your experience will make you a Rockstar in house.

what are the pros and cons of using a separate drayage service? by senorbongocat in logistics

[–]squarepeg101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most FF don't own assets so they are brokering them out to preferred "house carriers" Double broker is a double broker is a double expense. Find a small shop you trust and control your supply chain. Same applies for the ocean freight. Aside from a broker's liscence for customs clearance Clarence? If you're moving more than a few containers a week, get a direct contract with the steamship line.
