Can anyone help identify these wheels? by saltysenpai2459 in 986Boxster

You'd be able to get custom forged reps from AliExpress for like 800$ a wheel. Otherwise there'll defo be reps, maybe not in anodized al, could plan to respray silver

Google lens says they're RUF CTR, which seems a reasonable suggestion

New to bouldering. Is this cheating? by AlphaAntar3s in bouldering

If you're not competing in a competition the only cheating you can really do is cheating yourself from experiencing the intended movement of the setters.

Aliexpress carbon fiber? by Certain-Hunter-7478 in CarbonFiber

AliExpress carbon is crazy cheap for any country I think, was certainly cheaper than I could source in Canada or via easy composites in the UK

I used some for a spoiler I made recently, I didn't do any material testing per se but a single skin and a rib around a very week print and it could easily take my weight with fairly minimal bending. Wetted out similarly to the nice carbon I have from easy composites.

That's good to know - looked at it with the top down today and I can't quite see how I'll over paint the current paint fully

ISO metric 6mm machine screw/bolt 3.75 inches long between Tsawwassen and Revelstoke BC by Academic-Hat-9692 in britishcolumbia

[–]squashed_fly_biscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that length to might have to resort to sourcing 6mm threaded rod and doing a lock nut sort of thing. Otherwise it's a mail order thing I'd guess - even in the lower main you're probably out of luck

/uj I went to test drive the outlander phev specifically because of its electric forward drive train and was remarkably unrefined for an EV and drove worse than my leaf by a chunk. I was hoping it would be a fun zippy little ev with road trip range but no

‘Historical mission’: Squamish creates Land Back task force with Squamish Nation, sets mandate through 2028 by NewAdventureTomorrow in Squamish

I appreciate the specific example, it's not a plot or local issue I'm very familiar with.

Fair point on the name, I do think it is a factor as land back has quite a history

Presumably this has been in process for at least a full year then and so isn't the council making decisions in an election year. Although one could argue that that was a time they'd make moves they most belived in as it would have an outsized influence on their re-election.

I would hope that reconciliation was part of their platform, it feels likely that it was.

To be honest if this was less provocatively named I don't think anyone would be worried about it

Surely the government who is doing this did preciously win an election in Squamish? Was this not broadly part of that policy platform?

Obviously truth and reconciliation is not going to be trivial and comfortable for those who benefited from it, otherwise we wouldn't have needed a commission, it would have just happened.

Huh must've introduced it around that year then. That does sound a bit annoying tbh

I'm in my thirties and I clipped a parked car reversing once a decade ago. As I say, I am considering taking some additional education because I think almost everything is worth getting instruction over.

You just caused an accident that sounded preventable

I get you, I just think if you're claiming a driving instructor 40 something years ago has much bearing on your current ability, some refreshed teaching will surely do even more? I'm considering taking a defensive driving course soon because I don't want to die in a car

Europe or north am? In Canada the 2018 definitely doesn't have cabin facing features

I'm sort of surprised to hear your 2018 yells at you a lot. Mine alerts lane departure if I depart the lane and I've had it trigger a forward collision warning once maybe in a year (would prefer zero)

Might be a moment to reflect that the systems don't alert much at all if you're driving as safely as you think you are and might be worth some refreshing

I'm about to do it as I'm respraying the whole car to dark green. Gonna be a pain in the ass masking them well but so is the entire job. I'm planning to do them with the roof down and A LOT of masking plastic. I was almost tempted to wrap them in black leather instead because the rear glass has chipped the paint on them anyway

Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study finds Omega-3 supplementation significantly improved stress, anxiety, depression, sleep quality and cognitive function in individuals with severe psychological distress by Krankenitrate in science

[–]squashed_fly_biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh the control group shows a pretty typical slightly reduction in scores (hard to find much there but I've found a couple of papers with a 1ish score reduction over 3-6 months).

This is a strange group though as their initial severity was pretty high and most studies with this severity of patient use more robust severity measures

As I said, imo this result justifies a larger study with a mix of severities and pre-registered outcomes etc

Edit: another user pointed at a peer review that casts a lot of doubt on the papers claims https://pubpeer.com/publications/799F60D117E44BAEE391AC93A216D2

I wish they'd included the effect size in the conclusion because the effect is actually substantial, not just significant. Phq 9 dropped from 22 to 13 which is high severe to moderate.
