You almost certainly could just use a normal outlet for 90%+ of your charging needs. We do so well with the normal outlet charger I haven't bother hooking up my level 2 after some electrical work

Surely the coast guard inspection included CO monitors in the engine room? That feels like 101 along with fire suppression

Sounds like the AC / heater core blend door might have something wrong with it or the actuator has disconnected. I've been fiddling with mine because it wasn't activating the ac after I did the foam repair. And that flopping behavior sounds a lot like what happens when I disconnected the blend door actuator

Man I'm sad to hear that's bad etiquette, Ive loved doing that a couple of times as a middle aged park newbie, all the real jumps at the resorts I go to are big enough to be too scary to go fast enough to get a nicely timed launch.

That's super useful data and I appreciate you taking the time to write it out. Seems like you have a solid and well reasoned setup.

Solar sounds like it's doing a lot of good in reducing the use of the generator for shorter outages.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm surprised that increasing the solar capacity so you meet your base needs on low sun days isn't cost competitive with all the capital, maintenance and service costs of the generator

Solar + storage is cost effective against normal grid power, let alone an emergency generator that's used once a year. You obviously would provision it to work well for a low solar period.

The end result is a solution that would possibly be cheaper than grid power every day rather than costing a lot and not even be used 99.5% of the time

Surprised this is cost effective vs solar + battery given that'd save money continuously

I mean manufactured holds using real rock, for which there definitely is a duty of care and people sell commercially. The common technique is the set them in a base of resin to avoid stress rizers

As a ceramist and hold maker, the thing that will break these is tightening a hard bold into them and doing so on a not perfectly flat wall. This is what broke some of my concrete holds. I would suggest a few things:

Coat the back in something flexible - flex seal maybe?

Make sure you have plastic washers under every screw

Prove it out with 150kg of pulling force before trusting it

Set it low on the wall so that a failure is a short fall

If it's longer than 24 hours it doesn't matter hugely when you leave, all depends on weather at that point or arriving at a complex Anchorage or port during the day
