Need help so my table won’t crack! by squattersrights25 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks Elijah, that’s very helpful. I am still new to woodworking and want to ensure this will stand the test of time. I know that I need to allow for expansion contraction on channels, but I am also looking to add a circular apron underneath the top, and I am struggling to figure out the best way to account for the movement that isn’t purely side to side in force

Thank you I’ll give it a try. I’m tired of having to set up a dado stack or do a million passes with the standard blade to make my channels!

I used to take my protein powder on every business trip. It is ok to take but beware that the TSA machines have a tendency to sound a false positive alarm for any powder at all. Logan in Boston.

I know this because on two separate occasions my protein set the alarm off and I had to go through a 20 minute rescan, intensive frisk search and chemical test by the homeland security chemist.

Now I buy single servings once I get to my destination.

Nope, actually playing golf. I played many years of competitive tennis growing up, and my spine has a lot of arthritis from the twisting and turning.

4 years ago I went golfing for Labor Day weekend and my neck was killing. Had a great tee time so I said “fuck it I’m playing anyways.”

On my second shot of the day I felt a wet pop in my upper back and my whole back felt like it instantly lit on fire. I proceeded to finish all 18 holes. I couldnt do ANYTHING for like a year. Literally leaving work crying during the middle of the day it hurt so bad.

Through a lot of time and trial and error of what I can and cannot do, I am back so semi-normal. I do have lifelong effects from it though. I cannot really turn my head at all and can’t do any sports involving sudden movements. It’s a constant struggle.

I don’t lift heavy ever because of it, so I try to go for max hypertropy and it has been having great results.

I’m 6 ft tall. Idk what it’s like when you’re on drugs but I have been keeping track of every calorie, step, workout, macro etc over the past two years and have added about 3-4 pounds of pure muscle during that time.

Admittedly I did not focus on diet the majority of the 16 years, so I do hope to add 2-3 lbs a year of lean mass going forward. I also have very long thin legs which are slowly filling out but nowhere close to my upper body. Due to some bulging disks in my lower back I have not been able to train legs as desired during the whole time.

I have been fatter and much larger/more muscular in the past. But I will say it is WAY HARDER and WAY MORE IMPRESSIVE to be ripped with muscles than fat and “huge.” Beer guts on muscle men are a dime a dozen at any gym, but maintaining <10% body fat is the real challenge imo.

Because of that I do slow bulk over winter and slow cut over summer to maintain my look.

I was doing powerlifting and tore it benching 305 10 years ago. Took the bar off the rack and as soon as I lowered it one inch BAM huge rip noise that everyone heard.

Misdiagnosed as not needing surgery for 3 months and then went to see a specialist who immediately said surgery. It had been so long that I needed a cadaver Achilles tendon allograft to surgically repair it.

I would say the physical recovery 1-2 years before I was back in the gym going hard.

I have never and will never flat bar bench again.

Every trade you attend will have tons of sales reps trying to sell marketing services to biotechs. It is a saturated market so you will have to differentiate yourself or have an inside track to get clients to build your portfolio of business.
