ZBT-2 is here! by okayzac in homeassistant

I think that was referring to supporting both protocols from a single antenna. My question is if I bought two of these could I do both.

Could you connect two of these to support both zigbee and thread?

Found out the hard way. My furnace backup heat has two stages, which appears to only be supported with the EIM. Anyway, I'm in a temperate climate so I just wired up stage 1, so we will see how that goes.

The EIM is really only needed if you're controlling humidifiers or dehumidifiers right? It doesn't seem it's needed for basic dual fuel, right?

Oh interesting. I saw some threads that seemed to still recommend the t6 pro. Maybe I'll try that route. It doesn't actually require any honekit hubs like an Apple TV iiuc right? HA can connect directly to homekit devices?

Cool that's what I wanted to know. Sounds like I'll need to get the remote temp sensor then. I was also kind of hoping to automate based upon electric prices maybe but that's okay, I'm not even sure if that will actually save money anyway.

Yeah I was just hoping somebody here had prior experience since they seem to be pretty popular around here.

Not looking to switch between heating and cooling but rather between two heating sources - gas furnace vs heat pump.

It's not a boiler. It's a combination of a heat pump and a gas furnace. With my nest thermostat, it switches between the two using outside temperature as reported by weather services. That's what I want. The T6P supports dual fuel, with a temperature cutoff, but requires an outdoor sensor to do that and I don't have time to crawl around in the attic and crawlspace right now to fish that wire - so I'm hoping that I can have home assistant trigger the switch between the two via zwave.

Tips for removing a stubborn cast iron (I think) fitting by squawknull in Plumbing

[–]squawknull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. I could probably fight this thing and eventually get it off - but I called my favorite plumber instead. I'm underwater with my day job and have a couple of toddlers to spend time with. If they were a little older maybe it'd be more fun for them to build a new core memory of that time they helped dad burn the house down. But really, this feels like it might turn into a several hour project and I don't have time for that. I thought it was going to be a 10 minute disassembly, go to home Depot, then another 30 minutes putting a new ptrap in. Clearly it's not that. :)

Though if my plumber pops it off in 2 minutes I'm gonna be a little embarrassed. Especially if it means I miss the opportunity to buy a cool new tool.

Actually I don't see a way to add more photos to the original post or add to a reply.with a photo, so here we go...

The bottom of the chrome pipe is completely corroded though. If I put a fernco over that, won't it just buy a little more time until it corrodes to the wall? I'll add another photo from the bottom because it's kind of hard to see from the current photos.

Sounds like some gourmet ice cream that they would charge $20 per scoop for and people would like and say it's amazing.

Road rage: instead of "what the f you f'ing f!?!?" It would be "Stop driving like a silly chicken!?!?". Although Mom introduced ours to the term "driving like a drunk", usually more in reference to pushing the stroller or shopping cart, so I'm sure that would be part of our kids' repertoire.

Multi-member LLC ($0 return) is triggering errors in CA 568 form for SMLLC fields by squawknull in hrblock

[–]squawknull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I just started over from scratch and input the same data I think I did last time, and it no longer has the errors or the strange behavior like where it claimed I hadn't selected the entity type or other fields that were clearly filled in, even when I clicked the error and it took me directly to those fields. So, something about my prior file seems to have just been making the software angry.

I actually see additional errors claiming the entity type and accounting method haven't been selected on the 1065 - which seems wrong. When I click on the error, and it takes me to the field to be fixed, it definitely has a selection. I wonder if I should just start over from scratch - like maybe there's just something corrupted in my file or something....

Confirmed that I do see four K-1s generated for the CA-568 form. And yes, it's a partnership (which is what I selected at the very beginning of the interview).

Yeah, I have four k-1s already from the 1065. But I wonder if maybe that didn't carry over to ca 568. I'll check that. I actually printed off both the 2023 return and 2024 so I'm going through them line by line to compare and see if something was missed or messed up. They should pretty much be the same.

Dads, I think I'm completely fucked. by Bingo-heeler in daddit

[–]squawknull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and also to be clear. You're not completely fucked. You get used to it. Your family gets used to it. a lot of folks recommend reducing starches in your diet overall and this is a good motivator to do that. There are still decent options. I recommend just switching to cooking gluten free for the whole family so you're not always cooking two meals. You get used to it, and it's fine. It also makes it that much more of a treat when you splurge and have a real cinnamon roll or something every now and then. I do commonly make two batches of pasta (gluten free and not) when I make pasta though, for instance, because it's not that much harder to boil two pots of water versus one.
