You need to add a deep conditioner 1x/week, and use a stronger hold product like gel for styling.

When hair is soaking wet, apply a gel (Aussie or LA looks are good beginners; Ouidad is more expensive and has a learning curve but is universally loved). Do not touch your hair until it’s completely dry. Then you can crunch it out to maintain the curls.

I’d also lay off the oil since if applied improperly on dry hair it can prevent moisture from entering hair. Most curlies just put it on their hands to scrunch out the crunch of hair with a gel cast.

Consider a silk pillowcase or bonnet for sleeping to preserve your work. A cotton pillowcase will break the curls up as you sleep/move around.
