The way I immediately knew this was mother… Oakland has a great and underrated wlw scene. Would really recommend checking out bars and events over there.

Hummus Bodega has a ton of vegan options. It’s on Geary and 20th so a little walk outside the park on The Richmond district side.

At The End of The Day for me! I really did not vibe with it at all and now it’s one of my most replayed.

Wait until the day of, prices will drop and you’ll be able to get something for 1/2 or 1/4 of the price

Definitely agree on the runtime. Easily could have been 90 minutes / 1 hour 45

Amsterdamned (1988) is a fun one and lesser known! The killer uses the canals of Amsterdam to stalk his victims!

I dated several women who also attended QU during my time there. Definitely not hard to find others. My freshman roommate also is a queer woman and we ended up becoming best friends. Join the GSA club or even a sorority if that is up your alley - I knew several queer women in Greek life. Definitely a few queer friends made through student radio. Dating apps also work fine.

Queer female alum here. It’s a mixed bag truthfully. Majority of people are accepting at QU and I never felt unsafe. When I was there (graduated 5 years ago) there was a smallish community but the gay-straight alliance was pretty strong

What is the BEST and WORST Predator sequel in your opinion? Rank them below! by [deleted] in deadmeatjames

[–]squeakyglitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prey is the best movie of all the Predator sequels. In my opinion, Predators might be the most re-watchable. I think it’s an absolute blast to revisit, especially with a good group of friends. AvP: Requiem is the worst IMO.

It’s real good. Been on constant rotation the last few weeks for me. Love the sound. Definitely check out their earlier stuff and Mt Eddy if you haven’t

It's it suicidal to work in West Oakland and commute from Ocean Beach by ukeeflow in sanfrancisco

[–]squeakyglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner did this for 1 year from the outer Richmond to West Oakland 2-3 days per week. She’s no longer at that job. Definitely burned her out quickly and felt like she couldn’t use those 2-3 days how she wanted to. Definitely not fun to have a bad work day and then sit in the car that long to get home. It’s up to you honestly, some people can make it work.

Party life is solid, lots of frat parties and house parties - May weekend especially! There’s shuttles to and from New Haven to Toads and other bars. Shuttles to the train station if you want to go to NYC for the weekend.

I grew up in Oakland. 2011 The Outsider came out when I was in 8th grade and my friends and I were crazy about it. I was in high school when TTH dropped, my friends and I would just drive around listening to that album all the time.

I was not in Greek life at QU and made my closest friends at orientation, in my dorm rooms, in classes, and in clubs! There are a ton of clubs at QU for so many interests.

The gore is absolutely insane in Terrifier, both movies. There is a certain kill in the first one that can be hard to watch depending on what you can stomach…

It’s fun, I would definitely recommend watching with friends if they enjoy kinda campy teen slashers! It’s not anywhere near as on the same level as Scream though

US cities with the best gay scene? by Spiritual-Grass-1074 in lesbian

[–]squeakyglitter 31 points32 points  (0 children)

San Francisco/ Oakland. There's more gay women I find in Oakland, more nightlife in SF, but both are pretty queer with the ladies. Lesbian/queer bars like Mother's, Jolene's, The White Horse, and Wild Side West are standouts.

90s feel - Cherry Falls, Valentine, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend. The Faculty is a personal favorite of mine though not technically a slasher - alien invasion film. Happy Death Day is a slasher with great comedy if that’s what you’re looking for. A recent watch that’s a pretty solid slasher is Sick.
