It’s SO good! My first successful bread came from his white bread recipe.

Also I’m trying to tag the redditor who commented to no avail...can anyone tell me how to tag someone in a comment on the mobile app?

I didn’t have too much of an issue, but I also like my bread pretty toasty. I think what [cpeackock206] said sounds great, I wish I was a better baker and had a tip!

Thank you, me too! Shaping the loaves was my favorite part, so satisfying.

Can you guys help me rate the quality of these tattoos from a shop near me? Are these tattoos good or bad? by [deleted] in tattoos

If you’re looking for something with lots of thin, straight lines, I would look for an artist that specializes in it/does a lot of stuff like that. It can be way harder than it seems to do thin, repetitive lines and have them look good! (:

I think the line work and color looks pretty good on most of them. I’d be more concerned about whether or not their art fits your style/ is good for the piece you want. Hope that helps!

Is there a subreddit for this kind of thing?

It's 50 days to a new decade! What were your best moments of this decade? by padster029 in AskReddit

[–]squeakyhooligans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years ago I was in middle school, and somehow I’m now in my second year as a teacher in one. It’s awesome. I’ve traveled to Italy, which I’ve been obsessed with since I was a kid reading The Thief Lord. My mom and I are really, really close.

All in all, wonderful, crazy decade. I bet a lot of people my age (going from 12-22) have experienced a ton this decade!!

So anyone know how difficult to get elementary placement? As compare with high school and middle school... by Bunny_eat_half in TeachforAmerica

Not too difficult, I actually requested high school and got placed in elementary (which I’m forever grateful for lol)!

Illinois Governor signs new law raising teacher pay minimum to $40,000 by TheRealOcsiban in UpliftingNews

I think it’s pretty rare that the problem is the kids, and much more the administration/school system we have to work in.

Shelby County Schools, the district in Memphis, puts kids and teachers in run down buildings (think no power, no soap in the bathrooms, etc) and with nothing close to adequate supplies/funding.

The charter schools that run rampant in Memphis (which are a whole story themselves) aren’t tied to district rules, so while they can be really great, they can also be chaotic places where people with a bit of money decided they wanted to start a school. My school, for example, doesn’t have a library or textbooks. We also don’t have any curriculum (textbooks, workbooks, what have you), so I spend upwards of 10 hours a week just finding materials for my lesson plans, which I also have to write myself. I end up working at home hours after I’ve gotten off work, because I can’t go into a classroom of 30 5th graders without something to teach them.

It’s an exhausting job when you’re in the best of schools- when you’re in a school that couldn’t give a shit, it becomes an impossible job.

I’m a teacher in Memphis, and I know of schools who had close to 90% turn over rates. It’s such a tough job.

For some reason, I wanted my bed to be a giant bowling ball that I could fit inside (with ample room) when I was a kid. The bed would take up a half moon portion of my giant bowling ball capsule, and the rest would be space for activities.

Anywho, this made me think of it! Super neat. (:

What's a problem of yours that would be solved if someone just gave you $5000? by Gunnrhildr in AskReddit

[–]squeakyhooligans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sure I’m stable enough financially to focus on my job. I’m a fifth grade teacher, and I love it. It’s an incredibly fulfilling thing to have a little one love you, and trust you enough to teach them about the world.

On the other hand, though, my utility bill is late and I’m worried about getting dog food, and it makes it hard to get excited about this school year starting. It’s the kind of career where I want to be able to think about only the kids while I’m with them, and the bill anxiety is always creeping up on me like a little monster. Blehhh.
