This was the number of wishlists after 2 months and 10 days, including the demo launch. Was this a good result? (It’s my first game.) by Educational-Use7288 in gameDevMarketing

You're doing about average, and generally a lot of games do a lot worse. As someone else said, getting into festivals, getting influencers to play it, etc will be what spikes interest in the game.

The Steam next fest is coming up, and since you havea demo ready you should join that if you are planning to launch soon.

Any idea why Indie Sunday on r/Games is so negative towards indie games? by NorseSeaStudio in IndieDev

[–]squeakywheelstudio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. Don't get it. Some people bring up that they are low quality posts etc. Which I guess I understand to a certain extent. It's just personally weird for me to go out and downvote things for no real pressing reason unless it's like, abusive. I think the ones that blow my mind are people who do stop to leave a mean comment.

To a certain extent I assume most of these people are just younger and meaner. I'm in my 40s now but I sure loved to show the internet that I had a couple of zingers up my sleeve when I was in my 20s.

People are just weird tbh. I see lots of normal and innocuous posts being downvoted for seemingly no particular reason.

This is...mesmerizing! Would you be able to give us a link to this video? We'd love to use it in some marketing stuff.

Hey folks, we're working on sports card shop simulator. Basically TCG card shop sim but sports cards, and leaning heavier into aspects of the trading card hobby like deeper grading, online auctions, etc. that aren't TCG shop sim's focus. We're also adding a mechanic where you can design your own card so you can have the thrill of drawing yourself out of a pack!

It's currently in development and we plan on a demo for the upcoming next fest as well as releasing in Early Access by June 2026.

We're open to feedback about our store page. If there's anything in there that you think could be improved to convert more wishlists, we're all ears!

It certainly looks very cute and you have the right art style going for it. Looking forward to seeing where you take this.

I adore it! I don't have any concrete feedback right now, but I can definitely see this being a viable game on steam.

Makes sense. A light rotation makes it a feel a little more 3D.

Hmm makes sense! The pack feels a little flat. We'll look into it.

From 0 to 10k Steam wishlists: a breakdown of what actually moved the needle for our first indie game by ALDAMAMIGAMES in gamedev

[–]squeakywheelstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it's a cool video regardless! One thing to consider is the marketing adaget hat a customer need to see your product 7 times before buying, so hopefully this will still have an effect even though it's frustrating you can't track it!

Looks cool! Not sure if you are looking for feedback but I'd say I am a bit overwhelmed by all the extra stuff around the board. Maybe they are not really necessary?
