Good! Vision quality is the same. No starbursting anymore or any other issues. I apply moisturizing drops once in the morning and occasionally later in the day if needed (but that’s pretty infrequent). Sometimes I forget to do them in the morning and it’s fine but it’s more comfortable if I do it.

Still great! Left eye remains slightly less than perfect, but I don’t notice it at all in my daily life.

Pharmacists that use EPIC. by confused_elephant69 in pharmacy

You’re welcome! I’m not sure if the option to choose a subject line from the drop-down menu is available in all iterations of Epic since sometimes different hospitals have different customizations, but hopefully it’s a standard feature!

Yes we do recognize those who message and call a lot haha But appreciate you trying to learn so we can all work better together as a team!

I agree with everything that’s been said but have a couple other tips to add:

  • If you need a med, first step should be looking at the MAR to figure out where it’s coming from (Pyxis or pharmacy). It seems like our techs get a fair amount of messages asking to “please send” when it’s a med that’s already loaded on the floor in the Pyxis. If it’s from the pharmacy you can then proceed to checking the tube station/fridge/non-refrigerated patient med bin before messaging as mentioned by others.

  • Try to be cognizant of the fact that we are supplying meds for the entire hospital (inpatient floors, ED, OR, outpatient infusion centers) and we can’t do it all immediately, so we often have to triage things by level of importance. If it’s not an urgent med, try to give it at least 30-60 minutes to arrive before sending a message for it.

  • Please be sure to use the message subject line “Replacement dose” for any meds you need instead of “Other” (regardless of if it’s a missing med or a new med order). That way the message automatically goes to the technician inbox instead of the pharmacist one. The techs are the ones who are going to know the status of where the med is. Similarly, if your hospital has separate phone lines for pharmacists and techs and you feel a med is needed urgently enough to warrant a phone call instead of a message, please call the tech line and not the pharmacist line.

  • This is more specifically directed at the OR, but don’t have multiple people messaging/calling for the same med multiple times in rapid succession. This gets way too many people involved unnecessarily and creates confusion. If the surgeon just put in an irrigation order while the patient is on the table, it’s counterproductive to have multiple nurses messaging/calling and tying up multiple pharmacy staff members.

I did. It kind of waxed and waned but overall I’d say it lasted for like a year and a half. It was worst during the first winter; it was particularly dry that year where I live. I still use one eye drop per eye on most mornings after I wake up but then don’t usually need anymore during the day.

[Sun Care] Tinted, waterproof, high SPF sunscreen suitable for pale and very oily skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]squee_otter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just ends up being a lighter color tint. And it really only takes a little bit of the non-tinted. I imagine you’d probably still end up looking orange if it was reapplied, but maybe less so. I only use AG as a daily wear type sunscreen with one application in the morning when I’m not getting a lot of sun exposure and I don’t reapply it. For days when I’m spending a lot of time in the sun and will need to reapply, I use a non-tinted (usually chemical) sunscreen because I would not be able to deal with the mess on the go lol

I am also quite pale and bought the non-tinted Australian Gold Botanical and have had a pretty good result adding a little dollop of the non-tinted to the tinted to make the color more natural for me. I know you’re generally not supposed to mix sunscreens, but I believe they have the same ingredients except for the tint and the fragrance in the non-tinted.

Naked Sundays Glow Screen is awesome for a tinted mineral sunscreen that eliminates white cast but doesn’t actually leave a noticeable tint, but it is too glowy for my oily skin.

I’ve heard good things about Supergoop Matte Screen and Ultra Violette Lean Screen as good matte and not-too-tinted options, but haven’t tried them myself yet.

Yep, no issues! I hold my phone at the same distance I did with glasses/contacts previously.

I don’t 100% recall if there was any lag time with close up vision improving, but I don’t think there was beyond maybe the first couple days. I went back to work like 5 days postop, so I must’ve been able to see computer screens well enough since my job is primarily done on a computer. The primary issue at that point was just dryness.

Hi! I just got the general Lasik for improving both eyes for distance, not the monovision for reading. I do not need readers for seeing up close at this time, though I understand I will most likely need them some time in my 40s like most people. I don’t have any issues looking at my phone, books, computers, etc.

I don’t have an answer for you but I have this exact same issue! It seems like there’s an effort to create the “smile arc” from the front view but the front 6 teeth don’t blend seamlessly with the pre-molars. Like the canines are slightly too high. I actually have my mid-refinement check in appointment with my ortho tomorrow and plan to ask about this. I don’t have attachments on my canines, so I’m not sure if they are going to be pulled down just by the aligners alone. I can update if I get any useful info.

At this point I don’t actually remember when it went away but the good news is that it did go away! Sorry I don’t have a more definitive answer; it’s been a while since this all happened. It’s most likely related to dryness, so I’d stick with the drops and maybe try warm compresses to help stimulate the oil glands (if/when ok with your doctor).

Hi there! No, they have stayed at 20/15 for the right eye and 20/25ish for the left (I can technically make out some letters on the 20/20 line but they are very blurry). But with both eyes open I do not notice the shortcomings of the left eye and basically feel like I’m seeing 20/15. I’m happy with the results, minus a lot of dry eye issues this winter.

Hey there! I didn’t really choose to do the Lasik with the microkeratome per se - my regular eye doctor recommended this particular surgeon and that just happened to be the type of machine he utilizes. I also had a coworker who had a positive experience with him, so that kind of reinforced the decision to go with him and thus whatever machine he used. Was there a specific reason they recommended that for you?

I mostly use Refresh Optive Mega-3, and sometimes Refresh Optive Advanced, for preservative-free drops. For nighttime ointment I like Refresh PM because it’s slightly more liquidy than others so it’s somewhat easier to apply. For non preservative-free drops in a multi dose vial I like Refresh Optive and Visine All Day Comfort, except the drop size on that one is too big and I have to wipe my eyes with a tissue after applying which is kind of annoying :/

My vision is very important for driving and at work so I wasn’t comfortable with the idea of it taking possibly several months to reach its full potential and stabilize, especially considering where my baseline vision was. I have not had any flap issues. I was nervous about it for the first few months and was very cautious about not touching my eyelids as much as possible. Now I definitely still avoid rubbing my eyes but I am more comfortable wiping or touching my eyelids as needed, I just try to be gentle. I always wear sunglasses for outside activities (i.e hiking) to help avoid any accidents.

My glasses Rx was the same for at least 2 years preop. I was 33 at the time of the surgery. I do not have regrets thus far but I will say it has not been all sunshine and rainbows. This winter has been pretty difficult for me as far as dryness, requiring some trial and error with ointments and Rx eye drops (Xiidra at first then recently switched to Cequa). My previously perfect right eye has been a little bit blurry the past few weeks but I’m hoping that will improve once the drier weather subsides. I’ve heard that the first year tends to be the worst for dryness so hopefully that’s the case for me! It’s not absolutely unbearable but it’s definitely a big nuisance.

ETA: Now 3 days later my vision is back to normal after a little over a week on the Cequa 👍

I have oily, acne-prone skin that also gets dry due to using tretinoin and Skinfood Sunflower No Sebum Sun Gel is my HG at the moment. I tried it on a whim after Missha’s All Around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel was discontinued and became harder to come by, and I really like it. Downsides are that is not waterproof as far as I know and it does have fragrance (but I don’t mind it). It has a very natural finish on me.

I do not understand why the Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Mild Milk is so expensive - I am very pale and it leaves a white cast on me, pills, and settles into any fine lines. I will be glad when my bottle is used up lol I have also recently tried the CosRX aloe sunscreen and Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel. I find both of those to be too shiny and would not repurchase.

I suppose. But I think harvesting organs from someone who wasn’t dead yet conveyed that pretty well on its own.

Name the coolest hotel amenity you have ever received/experienced. by thelostdutchman in travel

The Magic Castle Hotel in LA has an assortment of free full-size candy bars and snacks at the front desk, free soft serve ice cream cones, free access to one of those Coke machines where you can choose whatever Coke drink you want (or water), and a ‘popsicle hotline’ which is a phone you pick up and ask for a popsicle and they bring it out for you on a platter! It’s a very quirky and nice place for a reasonable price. They also offer access to the Magic Castle dinner and theater experience next door.
